25w3d :-) and a rant
Hey!
Today was my 25w appointment, everything is fine, everyone is good! I get my GD test results next week, fingers crossed but I'm sure I don't have it.
okay, on to rant(s): 1-I only gained 11lbs so far. The baby is healthy, I am healthy. I wish people who aren't my doctor would stop telling me to gain more weight. I don't f-ing starve myself, I eat properly, I take my prenatals, (most of the time I drink enough water) so get off my back. My doctor is the only person who has the right to tell me "hey, you need to gain more weight because its not good" but she said I am perfectly fine where I am at. Anyone else getting un-needed weight advice (whether it's "you've gained too much" or "you haven't gained enough")? Seriously!
2-I got an email on facebook last night around midnight so technically this morning about my 90 year old grandpa from my aunt. A few months ago, he fractured his spine and he has always had severe heart problems. He pulled through. So this email I get says "I don't know if your cousin told you, but pop fell on Saturday and fractured his spine in the same place. He's in the hospital and he's not doing well. He has pneumonia (hospital acquired, I might add). Just thought you'd want to know."
There were a few more messages back and forth but basically she's saying it's really bad and I should get my *** down to NJ and see him. One problem with that...HOSPITAL ACQUIRED PNEUMONIA. Need I say more? So WHY she couldn't tell me on SATURDAY or SUNDAY before he got sick when the accident happened is beyond me. Now I'm the ******* because sorry, I don't want to put my unborn baby at risk even though this could be my last chance to say goodbye. Am I being unreasonable? Maybe I am, please someone tell me if I am or not.
Sorry about that ^.
On a funny note, my doctor and I were talking and I said "Oh the baby is always on my right side and I think his head keeps going into my ribs" and she said "It feels like a butt" and I said "It's big though" and she said "It's a butt!" lmao my son has a fat *** :-/ (like his mother, DH said).
Thanks for letting me vent

People are commenting on my weight I am right where I should be. I was always thin & I'm not going to blow up while pregnant!! Just ignore them.
As far as going to the hospital I would go. What do you think us pregnant nurses do?! He was at increased risk for pneumonia because he is laying bed & has pooling secretions in his lungs. In fact elderly persons who lay in bed with injuries... It's almost predictable they get pneumonia (sadly). I'm around all types of sickness as a pregnant nurse. It's fine. Sometimes I need to wear a mask. Do not stop yourself from going.

Re: 25w3d :-) and a rant
My aunt is going to ask his dr, but I told her I don't want to do anything that will harm my son. :-/. I'll go, even if I need PPD.
Thanks
And yeah I lost 15lbs in the beginning from being sick but I gained it back and the dr said I'm fine. I don't want to gain 60-90 lbs like my friends, no thanks lol. Glad someone feels my pain!!

Sorry people are sticking their noses into your business. It's a pain in the arse, but just ignore them.
As far as going to the hospital, you can go. DH's mother has a brain tumor and she developed blood clots in her lungs and pneumonia as a result of the first few rounds of chemo and has been in and out of the hospital since I got pregnant. Once in a while, nurses will suggest I wear a mask when I'm on the general floor, but most of the time they say just go on back (I always ask at the nurses station since she keeps changing hospitals and wards). There was only one time that a nurse was changing MIL's IV and asked me to step out of the room since whatever was in the bag could be harmful to me and the baby if it happened to splash. I thought that was very responsible of her to say something to me about it. In my experience, everyone is hyper-aware when you mention you're pregnant (a very good thing).
So sorry to hear about your grandfather, and I hope he gets better soon!

Re: 25w3d :-) and a rant
I can totally relate. I'm 27w and as of my last appointment, only gained 13 lbs so far. I had really bad M/S the first 4 months but I definitely eat now.
I've gotten plenty of obnoxious comments but my dr is fine with it and thats all that matters!

ITA with PP, I just stopped working two days ago and work in a hospital. I have come across SOOOO many patients with very contractable diseases and just made sure that I was carful with protecting myself. You should be absolutely fine and I feel like, personally, I would be more upset if I didn't go and something happened... god forbid!

Thanks <3
I am sorry to hear about your MIL!
I definitely want to go see him because yeah if something happens, I'd regret not seeing him . I just want to make absolutely sure, you know. Like I said I'd wear a mask if I need to. My biggest thing is finding a day to go down to NJ. I'm thinking Saturday...Wish me luck!

It's so hard when relatives are sick. You want to be there for them, but you have to take care of yourself and the baby first and foremost.
I'm sure you'll find a good time to go! Lots of luck getting down to Jersey and of course for a full recovery for your grandpa.

Re: 25w3d :-) and a rant
I can relate. I'm 20 weeks and I've gained 5lbs. I lost weight in the first trimester, too. My dr isn't concerned. In fact at my appt yesterday, he said my uterus is exactly the size it should be right now. I know it's easier said than done, but try to let the comments just roll off your back.
As for your grandfather, sorry to hear he's ill! I went through a similar thing with my grandfather who passed away last month. He was in and out of the hospital and I went, not giving it a second thought. Then he got pneumonia. My mom asked a nurse about me and the nurse said it wasn't a good idea for me to be in hospitals period (too late for that lady). He responded to the meds almost immediately so when his fever broke, I went back. But when he went home with hospice (he had cancer), it came back and I stayed around. Like previous poster said, it's a result of fluid collecting in his lungs from being bedridden. I didn't feel at risk.
