Quick Sesame Place Review
We got back today. The girls had an AWESOME time! When we got home, we actually considered doing the season pass, but realized that for the amount of money that we'd have to spend when compared to the number of times we would end up going, it wouldn't be worth it. But, the drive is so short (just under 2 hours, that we would totally go back for a day trip or two next year. They were able to go on just about everything.
Place was PACKED when we went so it's best to get there when the park first opens and have a game plan on what you want to do first before the lines get too long.
In regards to characters - truth be told, Bert and Ernie were the only characters out in the park on a regular basis - that we saw. I speculate that the reason is that they want you to pay for the character meals so you get a bigger selection. Maybe we weren't looking hard enough, but that would be my only criticism - but in my case, it really didn't matter anyway, becausse my two don't really do well with the characters up close, so it wasn't a huge deal.
And we got to see all the characters at the various shows and parades, which the girls LOVED.
We split a private cabana with another family yesterday. I will say that the cabana is a HUGE convenience. It's $200 for a day's rental, so it's best, in my case anyway, if you go with people and split the cost. You get a safe for your stuff - a fridge stocked with water, and you can put your own stuff in there. You also get a bunch of towels for free as well. Also comes with a cieling fan. Perfect place to chill out.
Hotel - HIGHLY recommend the Hampton Inn in Newton. We had a suite which was clean and roomy - full kitchen, fridge, dishwasher, cookware, utensils, etc. Separate bedroom. For 2 nights it came to $400 - which is a great deal considering the other hotels in the area charge that much for regular rooms (non-suites). And we were only about 10 minutes from the park. So, we were able to go back during the day so the girls could nap and eat lunch.
The rule is that kids under 2 get in free. We took a chance and didn't but them tix (they are 2 and 1/2), but they didn't even check so we saved big time there.
We ate all of our meals outside of the park - BAD reviews on the park food. The Pizzeria Uno right outside the park was great and last night, we found a Sonics Drive In (they DO exist)
Hope this helps - happy to answer any questions.

Glad you had a great time! We actually bought the season pass this year because they are opened all the way through Thanksgiving wkend when they have an Elmo Christmas show! We thought it was well worth it because it pays for itself in two visits.
I don't know if you realized but you get the remainder of this season and all of next for the price of the pass this year! You can always upgrade with your current ticket.
BTW, the characters have a pavilion behind Ernie's Big Bed Bounce. You can always catch Elmo and one other character there (we saw BB and Abbey)

Yeah, I heard that about the season pass. We are stil debating it and are planning on doing either Halloween or Christmas for sure.
Thanks for the info on the characters. Like I said, really wasn't a big issue because they don't do well with the characters uo close At one point we did see the Count, Cookie Monster and Telly in Sesame neighborhood but it was very brief.
