Is the baby going to sleep in your bedroom?
After reading the post about when you need to have the nursery done, I am wondering, is everyone having their baby in a bassinet in their bedroom when them when they are first home?
We have a very small master bedroom and don't have the room to have a bassinet or pack and play in there. The room that is going to be the baby's room is right next to our bedroom. Is it not okay to have the baby in the crib from day one at home? We will, of course, have a monitor and all.

only reason the baby will be in bassinet in the beg is bc i intend to breast feed and every BTDT BF mom i talk to says they feed so often its just so easier to roll over and grab them

I want to have the baby in the room the first month. The baby's room will be ready but little usage I assume for the first few weeks.

Re: Is the baby going to sleep in your bedroom?
Nope. He has his own room with furniture.
I BF'd Abby and it made ZERO difference with her in or out of the room. When she came home, there was no furniture. She was in a pack n play bassinet in our room for 2 weeks. At that time, when she woke to eat, I had to get up to pee first anyway so rolling over to feed her and going back to bed was not really an option. Once she was in her own crib in her own room, I STILL had to get up and pee. At least ONE of us (DH or I) got to sleep when I went to her room to feed her instead of both of us being awake.

I think thats fine, just use the monitor to check up on the baby.
I have a 2 bdrm apt and the 2nd room is used for storage so she will be in our room for a while.

Re: Is the baby going to sleep in your bedroom?
Yes! We have a large MBR so we will probably just bring crib in there for first 2-3 months. I have an antique cradle that my mom saved from when I was born and it's gorgeous- I am just a little nervous to let the baby sleep in it overnight.

Re: Is the baby going to sleep in your bedroom?
Yes but mostly bc we have a pretty large BR and well no nursery so unless we put the baby in the living room which we would never do bc we have cats they would have to be in the hallway!

nope--we still want our room to be our space. i'm sure the house will be taken over by the baby once it's born, so we still want one room that is ours.

The baby will be in my room for the first weeks, just because i would not want to walk across the wall to the baby room for breastfeeding. I think that's why most people keep the babies in their rooms.

Re: Is the baby going to sleep in your bedroom?
My twins were in one crib in dd's nursery and at three months they were switched in their own cribs. Never spent a night in the room with us.

Re: Is the baby going to sleep in your bedroom?
no, we had DD in her own room from night 1 and i EBF, I rocked her and nursed and put her back in her crib. thank god too, i slept so much better without her in our room. newborn babies make a lot of grunting noises thru the night and it def would have kept me up.

Re: Is the baby going to sleep in your bedroom?
Our MB is small and there is no room for a bassinet or PnP so I plan on putting the baby in the crib from day 1.
That's my plan but who really knows what is going to happen once the baby comes.
ETA: If the baby does sleep in our room, it will be in the Fisher Price Rock and Play Sleeper

Re: Is the baby going to sleep in your bedroom?
With our first we were able to fit the PNP in our bedroom. Although DC barely every slept in the PNP.
I wound up cosleeping with DC in our bed until DC was 7.5 months old and we moved DC into the crib.
Plan on doing the same this time around.

Re: Is the baby going to sleep in your bedroom?
I'll probably have the baby in the room for the first 2-4 weeks, but really want to transition him, to his crib after that. My room is adjacent to his and I think he'll be ok.

Re: Is the baby going to sleep in your bedroom?
I originally thought I'd put the baby right into his/her crib in the nursery (which is right across from my room), but MIL also suggested for EBF that I'd want the baby right there. I'll probably keep the LO in my room for a short amount of time. My mom put my brother and I right in our cribs.

Re: Is the baby going to sleep in your bedroom?
Yep. We only have a 2br and DD1 is in there right now. Not fair to my 2yo to be woken up every couple hours by a crying newborn/infant. Plus, I'll be BF'ing.
DD2 will go into the other room with DD1 when she can sleep 5-6 hrs at a stretch.

I bough this as well.
I plan to use the nursery right away but if that doesn't work out I am using the fisher price rock & play sleeper for him to sleep in in our bedroom. I don't really have room for anything else.

Re: Is the baby going to sleep in your bedroom?
My master bedroom is big enough for baby to sleep in but her room will be right next door so we dont plan on having her sleep in the room ever. I want her to get used to being in her own room.

I feel the same way as well as I'm going to try extremely hard to implement a strict routine that allows the baby to know the schedule DH and I would like him to be on. My mother did that with myself and siblings and I've heard from BTDT mom's that a routine helps to establish full nights of sleep and a happier baby all in all...

Re: Is the baby going to sleep in your bedroom?
Nope. We had DD in our room for about 2 nights when we brought her home...and she grunted in her sleep all night long! We constantly thought she was up and thought she needed to be fed. We got no sleep! From night 3 onward, she slept in her own room.
We plan on having DS go right into his own room!
