Do you plan to have the baby sleep in your bedroom in the beginning?
DH wants to move the crib into our room so the baby can sleep with us in our room. I was thinking we should let the baby sleep in his nursery.
Just curious if you plan to keep the baby in your room in the beginning.

Re: Do you plan to have the baby sleep in your bedroom in the beginning?
I definately want to have the baby with me for the first few months..... At least I think that they are so tiny and fragile and so many things can happen that I need to have the baby with me....
I am also a first time mom so that may play a role in my nervousness and need to check on the baby...

We will definitely be having the baby in the room with us at least until 6 months or when the baby is sleeping through the night.

Re: Do you plan to have the baby sleep in your bedroom in the beginning?
I will be having the baby in a co-sleeper for a while. We had DD in one for about 4 months. And the new baby's crib will most likely be in our room...looks like we'll be sharing for awhile (we only have a 2 bedroom)

With DS he was in his own room from day 1 and we will do the same with this one too. We have monitors and the room is right across from ours.

Yes we will be having the baby sleep in our bedroom. We have a bassinet that he'll be sleeping in. For my DD, she stayed in our room for about 8 weeks and then she went into her own crib in her room.

The baby will be in his/her own room from day one. The baby's room is directly across the hall from our room.

Re: Do you plan to have the baby sleep in your bedroom in the beginning?
YES! I did it with DD and it made all the difference. BUT whether you should do it or not I think depends a lot of how you are delivering and how you are feeding. I did want DD in our room in the beginning but I will say that for me it worked out best. I had a section and was BFing - so I kept the baby next to me in bed (in her bassinet) so when she woke all I had to do was reach next to me at night and feed her and put her back in - (DH did diaper changes) - Something to keep in mind - in the very beginning they often wake frequently (not all but most babies) - if they are in your room you can feed them quickly and get them back down without having to get out of bed, go sit in another room etc. Much easier to go back to sleep etc.

Yes of corse, she will be in a cradle right next to our bed. I believe that is recommended as far as SIDS concerns.

Re: Do you plan to have the baby sleep in your bedroom in the beginning?
For now, the plan is to have DS in his crib from day 1. But I am not going to breastfeed, we have a video monitor and his room is right next to ours. I guess plans could change based on my delivery though.

Re: Do you plan to have the baby sleep in your bedroom in the beginning?
We originally had DD in the pack and play in our our room. After about a week home, she decided she only wanted to sleep while being held. After about a week and a half of that and not getting any sleep we hired a baby nurse to help us out and decided to keep DD in her room so once she got used to sleeping on her own and not being held, we wouldn't have to worry about transitioning her from the bassinet to the crib.
Now, usually after her early morning feeding (around 7am), she goes back to sleep in the the bassinet in our room and will take her naps there as well.
ETA: The original plan was to keep her in our room for the first 2-3 months as I planned to breastfeed, however BFing did not work out for me.

Re: Do you plan to have the baby sleep in your bedroom in the beginning?
Yes, DC will be in the cradle in our room for a while. I remember the first time around being so nervous about every single sounds DD made. If she were in the other room, I would have been even more neurotic.

Re: Do you plan to have the baby sleep in your bedroom in the beginning?
I'm thinking of doing a pack n play in our bedroom since we're having twins. I think it'll be more practical than buying 2 bassinets. I'd like to try and BF so I think this will be best but onlywhen we're in it will we know what works.

We will use a co-sleeper and have the baby in our room for six months. We did that with our son and we were all happy with that.
