Medieval Festival at Sands Point Preserve
I was wondering if anyone has been to the Medieval Festival at Sands Point Preserve. We are thinking of going to the preserve next month with the kids and I noticed that the medieval festival will be taking place that day. I have been to the Renainnce Faire and loved it so I was wondering if it was about the same thing and do you think my DC will like it.

Re: Medieval Festival at Sands Point Preserve
We went 3 years ago (DD was like 3 mos old) and it was okay. I'm thinking with older DC it would be a lot more fun! It was pretty small, but they did have some cool things. When is it this year?

Re: Medieval Festival at Sands Point Preserve
We are going to go to the preserve on Sept 18th (which is our anniversary). DC are 4 years old & 17 months old. I think my DS would like it. If we do not go to the festival, we are going to go to the preserve for the day anyway. I was thinking of having a picnic, walking around and just having family time. I just thought with the festival there, it would give us something else to do.

We went last year and thought it was great. Loved the jousting. The grounds are great and you can walk the trails down to the water as well.

Thanks everyone. We definately are going to walk around the preserve but if DC wants we will also go to the medieval festival.
Just so you know, they charge you as you are pulling in, so you have to pay regardless.

I see. I thought that they would only charge you if you were going to the festival but if you only wanted to walk on the grounds they would not charge you.

Re: Medieval Festival at Sands Point Preserve
For those 4 days, the entire public area of the preserve is considered part of the festival. Festival fees apply (rather than standard preserve parking fees), and are collected at the gate.
The festival includes jousts, craft and martial demonstratios, a marketplace, Maypole dance, medieval fashion show, archery booth (even toddlers can participate, assisted of course, by the instructor), performances, pony rides, and more.

Me too and I loved it too. I am not sure if my DS will like it. Might have to pass on it this year.

Re: Medieval Festival at Sands Point Preserve
I think they would. I took my cousin there for a few years when she was younger. Around age 3-4...There is a lot to see. We are taking DS there this year....
