At what age did you remove DC's bedrail?

Ava has a platform day bed and we have the railing on it, but I'm thinking she might be ready to not have it anymore. Just curious when everyone took their DC's off or if you still have it on?

They were off by the time they were 4. I don't remember exactly when.

Ella never had rails on her bed. She moved into a full sized bed just before she turned 2 - its a platform bed on the lowest setting.

Believe it or not my son is 5 and we just removed it a few months ago. He slept in the raling as if it were a hammock. He moves all over in his bed that we esp my DH were nervous. Plus my son is a nervous kid so we were scared how he'd transition. It went well and he only fell out the 2nd day which I am not even sure he did. He said he did and called us but I found him perfectly tucked in his bed....maybe he dreamt it. At night we'd check on him and roll him back towards the wall when we'd see him hanging off the edge and eventually he learned as well.

I removed it only because I felt like it looked like a crib and was afraid as he got older and his new school friends come over - he'd get made fun of being I see the peer pressure starting already. I did put a big extra couch cushion on the floor to ease his and DH's neves about it.

Ava just turned 6 and still has hers. She has a very high sleigh bed and sleeps right up against the rails. They slide under the mattress in the daytime, and I just slide them back out at night. No plans to remove them.

Depends on the kind of sleeper your child is IMO. My son is 4 and he still has his, he does quite a bit of travelling in his sleep. I tried taking it down and he fell out of bed a few times so it went back on. My DD definitely didn't have one on her bed at 4 though bc I gave it to DS when he got his twin bed. You could always remove it and put a bunch of pillows on the floor next to the bed, you'll know in a day or 2 if she still needs it.

DD never had a bedrail. we converted her crib to a toddler bed at 3.5 and we put her in a twin bed at 3.75 yrs old with no rail. she did fine.

DS never had them. We converted his crib to a full and he always slept in the middle. He moves around but only in the middle. He turned 4 in April.

Same for us! She fell out once on the first night, we had a ton of pillows on the floor. After that she never fell out.
