finally decided to go ahead with the d&c
Went for my annual yesterday and discussed it at length with my doc. I've been putting this off for over a year now and I just can't take the symptoms anymore so i'm going to schedule the surgery. I'm just totally petrified of surgery, even tho she explained everything, i've discussed it on here and you ladies have been very helpful and reassuring, but of course when it comes time to go through with it i'll be a wreck. And i'm not sqeamish with any procedures really (only the breast biopsy I had made me break down but otherwise i'm pretty good). The thought of being put under and someone having control of my body other than me makes me insane. Sigh. Thanks for listening

I had 2 D & C's for polyps and fibroids. Honestly it was so uneventful. I was scared the first time cause I have never had any type of surgery or anything. But after that I was fine....recovery was a day of rest.

Re: finally decided to go ahead with the d&c
I had a D&E a few weeks ago. I was TERRIFIED for the actually procedure!! When I was actually put out, I walked into the OR where there was classical music playing. They inserted the IV and then gave me oxygen to help me relax. I was told to close my eyes because otherwise I'd see the ceiling start to spin. I closed my eyes and didn't believe it was POSSIBLE but I really did get relaxed feeling... The last thing I remember saying was "don't forget I wanna be pregnant again" and then I fell asleep.. I would definitely ask for something to help relax you!! I didn't think anything would but it made it much easier. By the time you walk into the OR, you're out within 5 mins. Next thing you know, you're up in recovery and being waited on hand and foot!
