Not PG but have questions
Twins run on practically every side of mine and DH's family. Now I know that twins run on the mother's side right?
So, ever since I was little I had this "twin feeling", call me crazy, but I did. My grandmother was a twin, my dad's side has twins, DH's mom is a twin and DH's dad has twins on his side too.
So, tell me about being PG with twins, so I have an idea what to expect.....how much weight do you gain over a single PG? What's the chance of delivering naturally? How soon do you have to go on bedrest, if at all? I NEED ANSWERS!!!!!! DH and I will probably start trying toward the end of the year......
TIA!

Re: Not PG but have questions
I am only half way through my twin pregnancy, but i will try and answer some of your questions since i have read up on it.
If twins run in your family, you are more likely to have fraternal twins (identicals are much rarer and no one knows why they happen). Fraternal twins also have less complications then identical can have, but the pregnancy will still be considered high risk and you will see you OB A LOT!
An average twin pregnancy lasts 37 weeks (40 is the norm). Most doctors will let a woman try for a vaginal delivery if they can, however you are more likely to get a c-section with twins and you can even have the chance of delivering one vaginally and then needing to be rushed into for an emergency c-section.
You are suppose to gain between 35-45 pounds with a twin pregnancy. As for bedrest, all doctors are different. Some woman work up to 35-36 weeks if they can. Some doctors though will require woman after 30 weeks to go on bedrest since premature labor is a big issue with twins. I don't know where my doctor stands on this as of yet. Also, with twins you are more likely to have back issues, pre-eclampsia issues and other issues so bedrest might be prescribed for any of these issues as well. Some woman will go into premature labor and then the doctor will make them stay in a hospital on bedrest till the end of their pregnacy.
As for me, i am having identical twins, so i have issues that can happen to them, that can't happen to fraternal twins. Also, my twins are only in one Chrono (seperate amnio's) and the doctor said he only does c-sections with these types of twins and delivers then by 38 weeks. I get a lot of prenatal care because of everything. However at 20 weeks i don't feel much bigger then an average singleton pregnacy right now and feel really good too. However, my lower back has been acting up since i sit at a desk all day, so i am thinking this is going to be an issue later on in my pregnancy and bed rest might be needed.
Hope this helps. Feel free to FM me if you want any more answers.
