What to do with crying twins....
Hi Ladies.
Just wondering how everyone handled the dreaded...both crying at the same time scenario.
For instance, sometimes they both wake up hungry at the exact same time. How did you handle this?
Other times, they just want to be cuddled and held but I am only one person and havent quite mastered how to comfort them both at once.
Any tips would be great! I cant handle listening to one scream while I hold the other....I feel horrible.

Re: What to do with crying twins....
I used to put one in the vibrating bouncy seat and rock it with my foot and talk to them while I did what I had to with the other. I could never prop bottles for them b/c they had reflux.
I also walk around singing "i only have 2 hands, there is only 1 mom" on a regular basis

Feed them both or hold them both at the same time. I should take pics of the many ways I feed them simultaneously because it is too hard to describe. One way is to sit on a couch, prop one leg up so your foot is on the other knee and rest one baby on that leg, and have the other baby on your lap with head resting on a pillow or boppy pillow. You can also put them both in bouncy seats (or even car seats) next to eachother and feed them both that way. I used to hold them both against my chest but now that they're bigger I hold one against my chest and one on my lap.

Re: What to do with crying twins....
This was my strategy...Who was the most pi$$ed off. Also my one DD ate faster than the other so I usually did her first.
When it was really bad..I also would hold one and then sit the other one in the bobby on the bed and feed her with one hand and feed the one I was holding with the other hand.
Thank GOD they can hold their own bottles now and can feed themselves food.

to feed at the same time i put them in their bouncy seats or prop them in the boppys and sit in front of them with a bottle in each mouth, crying at the same time i usually hold whichever is worse and try to rub the other ones back or sing or talk to soothe and then switch after a few minutes i have on occasion held them both at the same time but them its really hard to put one of them down

Re: What to do with crying twins....
I know it is very hard. It gets easier (somewhat LOL). When they would both be fussy I would hold them both sometimes and sing somewhere over the rainbow. They loved that song for some reason. I would also use the bouncy or swing with their pacifier. Those worked wonders.
As for feeding both at the same time, during the day I would put each in the boppy on the couch, one on my left the other on my right and sit in between them. It was super comfy. Then when they started to move a lot, around 3-4 months I used the bumbos on the couch as well. I did that till they were 10 months. However they did constantly climb out of them so around 8 months I had to put the bumbos on the floor. Good luck
ETA...forgot to add, during the night I would use the body pillow. I propped it against my sleeping husband and leaned the girls against it. I would then kneel on the floor and hold their bottles.

Re: What to do with crying twins....
I try to deal with them both at the same time. For feeding, I put Hunter on my lap and put Georgie on the couch next to me so that they can both eat at the same time. WHen they are both screaming, I try to scoop them both up and just walk around with them. Hunter likes a binky so sometimes he'll take the binky to calm down and then I can walk around with Georgie. It took awhile to figure out the best way to deal with this! Hang in there!

You can also sling one and hold the other. Depends how old they are. The Moby can hold infants at the same time.

Re: What to do with crying twins....
I also use the bouncee seats CONSTANTLY! I put, at least, one of them in the bouncee and rock it with my foot...sometimes the pacifier helps too...and hold the other one (DS calms when held and DD doesn't usually). I also sometimes put one on the couch next to me (they don't roll yet) and hold the other. The other day I had to wash bottles, so I had them both in their bouncees on either side of me while I was at the sink. I was taking turns rocking them with my foot!
As for feeding, I feed them at the same time with bottles. I sit them in their boppy pillows on each side of me, feed and take turns burping.
I find that it is really trial and error to see what works for them...and you!
