If you pass your due date...
Do you have a choice of whether you want to be induced or have a c-section? Just wondering...

It is probably completely up to your Dr. and I would assume they would induce you unless there was a medical need for a c-section.

My Dr. told me he would have induced me if I went more than 1 1/2-2 weeks late. Thank goodness my  came out on her own one day early!

Since we go to the same doctor and I am in that boat now, they induce once you hit a week after your due date. Unless there is a medical reason for a c-section, I think they stay away from doing it.

I think it depends on the dr but I'm not sure c section is an option???
I see midwives and they are very hands off I did not have an internal until I hit 40 weeks at 41 I had an aggressive internal and than was scheduled for induction at exactly 42 weeks but I went into labor 3 days before.

My dr won't let me go more than a week past my due date then he'll induce as of last weeks appt. My girlfriend's doc didn't let her go past her due date period b/c she had GD but if she didn't have GD she would've allowed 2 weeks past her due date before inducing her... I guess its up to the dr.

it really depends on the situation. if you are somewhat effaced or dilated, they will usually opt to induce.
if your cervix isnt "favorable" as mine wasnt (i never effaced or dilated at all) they do not like to induce, many times the induction fails and end in a section.
at my 40w1d appt, it was decided we would do the section the next day 
ETA - there were additional factors that led us to the section. Big baby, high fluid, clotting disorder etc. Every scenerio is different

With DS, at my 39 week appointment we discussed what would happen if I were to go past 40 weeks. I was not given the option of a c-section, just that I would be induced.

My dr.s will induce at the 39 week mark if you want to . I am a little over 38 weeks now with my second and I hoping to go on my own and day now ( fingers crossed!)

My doc lets you go up to 2 weeks  however they will discuss options with you beforehand if you want. I CANNOT imagine going 2 weeks late.

i went into labor naturally on my due date. but i remember my doc saying they would induce me if i went to 41 weeks, never mentioned a c section. just induction.

I was going to be induced if I was a full week overdue. I missed it by a day.
I'm not sure if you have a choice though?? Are you asking b/c you don't want to have a C or you don't want to be induced?

I don't want to be induced, have horrible labor for 24 hours only to end up with a C in the end! I've heard too many stories like that and I'm terrified  . Hopefully this little guy will come out on his own!

Share your concerns with your Dr. You shouldn't have to be induced right at your due date. I know my Dr. lets patients go up to 2 weeks after due date.
