Re: How do you contain your 1yr old - 15 mnth old?
do u have a bouncer?? DS loves his bouncer and will entertain him for a while. we moved it into the place of the exercauser.
also, we set up ou rliving room to be gated off..using a gate and his pack and play. so he can roam, but not get into the kitchen.

We put DS in the PNP or in the highchair and put on Yo Gabba Gabba when we have to do something.

Re: How do you contain your 1yr old - 15 mnth old?
I still use the bouncer but I know I'm pushing my limits on this one.
In the kitchen I use the pack n play while I cook, we already had a very horrible experience with him getting second degree burns from the stove, so even though he's not crazy about the pnp I can't take any chances again. He HATES the highchair(s) we've tried 2 different ones already and can't stand both so that's out.
Otherwise I let him roam, I don't exactly have a babyproofed house, its nerve wracking b/c I also have a lot of plants he likes to get into now.

I let Mason roam around. Usually I put on the TV for him for a bit to distract him so he doesn't get into trouble. He's usually pretty good and watches TV, plays with toys or follows me around
same here
Same for me too. She usually follows me and goes back to the LR to play with toys, then comes to see what i'm doing, then back again, etc.
We used the superyard gate for a few months but once she was really a pro walker/runner she did not want to be contained!

Re: How do you contain your 1yr old - 15 mnth old?
We were kind of faithful with the pnp early on so DS is okay with it. DH uses it when he's doing his morning routine and I catch an extra hour of sleep! And I use it when I clean and/or get dinner going.
Try to swap out the toys regularly to keep it fresh and exciting. Even some tupperware and spoons let him "help me cook" and gives me more time!
It also becomes a reverse petting zoo and he throws cheerios out for the dogs to eat! Not 100% condoned but sometimes it's okay!
We also have a play yard fencing that blocks off a larger area that is safe with some nearby supervision (within ear and eye shot) so he can play with his bigger toys.
Rarely tdo the highcahir and tv thing but once in a blue moon, it's a change of pace filler.

at that age, there was no containing my dd. i just babyproofed everything and would try to limit her to one or two rooms. her fave dvd would also work.
Ditto.

I was lucky, I guess. Both girls LOVED the pack and play. It was my saving grace and they both used it until the could climb out We had the Graco bugs play yard and it is bigger and roomier to play in. I did find that they played longer in it if I was not in the same room.

I used this one with DS too. He didnt like staying in the regular rectangle PNP but this one is a big square and has things on the side to play with so he loved it.

Our den is baby-proofed and gated off, so he stays in there most of the time. If I'm showering/getting ready, he's in the PNP in my bedroom.

Re: How do you contain your 1yr old - 15 mnth old?
We have the playzone and just got the extensions so it is a little bigger. She would love to be out on her own day!!! we baby proofed but there is just so much baby proofing you can do within the limitations of your home.
Usually in the am when i shower she will stay in the playone for an hour sometimes more sometimes less. WhenI am cooking dinner I usually put her in hi chair with snack and TV and she will give me 20-30 min at most.
I am so worried when we turn the heat on bc we have those floor radiators!!!

I would probably put him in the highchair with puffs or something like that.

He roams most of the time but if I really need to keep him contained for a bit I use the pnp.

Re: How do you contain your 1yr old - 15 mnth old?
Santino pretty much has run of the house (well the living room, foyer and kitchen). IT is all open and baby proofed. WE plan on closing it in a bit and then I will just keep him in one of the rooms. If I really need him to stay put (If I'm vacumming or something) I put him in his playpen with some toys.
It'sbigger then a reg pnp Def a great purchase!

He has the run of the house all day long, except when Jack eats. Jack eats in the living room at his little table - and Tyler gets all up in his food. I can't tell you how many times he has been covered head to toe in oatmeal

Re: How do you contain your 1yr old - 15 mnth old?
Just saw your last post, was gonna ask how he gets into the food. Can you have Jack eat at the dining room table? Should solve the issue...Or can you gate off a section? We use large storage tubs as a "gate" for when I need to use the bathroom and dont want them in there with me, or need to use the oven and they are roaming free.

Re: How do you contain your 1yr old - 15 mnth old?
There is no containing him. I retired the saucer about 6 months ago. I can't even imagine putting him in it now. I just put up baby gates, close doors and cringe as he destroys whatever small space I let him roam in.
Sometimes, when I need to cook I will put him in the highchair, crank his station on pandora and dance like an idiot (while cooking) to entertain him, while he snacks or plays with his instruments.. Then I pass out at 9pm.

Re: How do you contain your 1yr old - 15 mnth old?
Can you put him in the high chair? Can't they eat at the same time? IDK...once Hudson was eating solids they ate at the same time.
I never really contained my kids. They just kind of learned to play in a spot I wasn't trying to get stuff done in or sit quietly and watch a show for a bit, etc.
