Any David Sedaris fans?
I am a huge lover of David Sedaris. He is my favorite author.
However, I just started his new book today and I'm already so, so disappointed.
Anyone read Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk yet? Thoughts?
I'll finish it later but I just feel so deflated ... was so looking forward to it!

He kind of lost me on his last one - when you are engulfed in flames. But the one story of him and his bf at the bed and breakfast with the doll collection ... omg that was amazing.

I love love love him but that one wasn't as good as all of his others.

Agree - but his newest one was just. awful. I read it begrudgingly and it left me with a sour taste.
I think I related a lot to When You are Engulfed in Flames because I was quitting smoking at the time! So it applied to me. It still had the same voice that the rest of his books had.
This new one ... was ... I don't even know. I feel like it was written by someone else entirely.
Though my favorite will always be Me Talk Pretty One Day.

I think he kind of went downhill after Me Talk Pretty One Day. Almost like he started trumping up his stories/memories for laughs. It all reads so forced and ridiculously outrageous. Naked remains my favorite.
