Finger injury

So I jammed my finger into a heavy, hard door on Monday afternoon.

I've been icing and using a splint. It's still painful and swollen. I can bend it, but slowly. I can't take an anti-inflammatory because I'm allergic to Aspirin and ibuprophen.

I am guessing I sprained it (or worse). How long before it starts to heal? I'm wondering if I should goto the doc, or if he is just going to send me for xrays, see nothing then tell me to keep doing what I am.

go to an ortho; they will do xrays just to make sure its not broken, but you may have injured tendons or ligaments that have to be splinted correctly to heal right.
