pet insurance- cost?
Would you mind sharing how much you pay for your plan and what kind of coverage is it? (and the name of the plan too) TIA!
i got a quote from VPI for over $400!! ASPCA basic accident coverage is $150. luckily my dog's never had any accidents or health problems, so I think the basic ASPCA one might be good for him.

I use VPI but I just get the Standard Plan. I think they may have changed the name of it recently though...
The cost though depends on dog breed and age as well.
Mine is not nearly as expensive as what you were quoted.

Re: pet insurance- cost?
I have the ASPCA insurance that covers accidents and illness (so everything but wellness) and it was just over 300 for the year. I have a lab mix and he was 6mons when I signed him up

Re: pet insurance- cost?
I had aspca for 2 pups and paid $80-90ish/month for both. Claims were terrible. They never wanted to pay.
I switched one to VPI and its about the same and I just filed my first claim so we shall see

Re: pet insurance- cost?
I have VPI and pay about $60 a month.
Here is an example of how they pay:
1 claim for $78, they refunded $56. 1 claim for $391, they refunded $184.50 And 1 bigger claim...I'm still waiting for a refund. If I get a decent amount back on this claim I may keep the insurance. Otherwise, I just may bank the $720 and use it as needed. Sometimes I feel it's not worth it. But like I said, I just put through a big claim so I'm waiting to see how it pays out.

I havent put any claims in cause Rocky hasnt been sick or had any accidents. But my vet recommended this one cause the good experience other patients have had.

Re: pet insurance- cost?
I have VPI Insurance and it costs us about 35 a month. I have a three year old terrier mix.
I find I do now get too much of a refund with the well visits - I do get some but not as much as I would like.
HOWEVER....
Last Sept Lexi some how cut her leg right through all tendons and needed emergency attention.
It ended up costing us 750 - and we got back around 630!! Plus other odd amounts for her checkups following her injury.
We never want our pets to get hurt but its bound to happen especially when they LOOOVVE the outdoors. In a situation like that I was soooo thankful we had the insurance!
