Re: my doc only does one iui...never 2....?
Interesting your doc would say that. After two failed single procedure IUIs we started doing B2Bs because male factor issues.

Re: my doc only does one iui...never 2....?
i am using RMA.... no male factors here...just my crappy and few eggs..was just told to a couple times after.
but i did ask and the doc kinda chuckled and said something like... no medical data supports b2b iui's at all...its just something docs do to bill insurance.

Re: my doc only does one iui...never 2....?
When I was doing my IUI's I was told that the IUI done the day after the trigger is not as important as the one done two days after the trigger. And this is because most of the time the egg releases about 34 hours after the trigger shot. The IUI that is done the day after the trigger is mostly done just in case the egg releases within 24 hours, which doesn't happen often. A back to back IUI covers all bases.

Re: my doc only does one iui...never 2....?
I go to RS of NY, and I too was told there is no need for back to back IUI's. They said that it hasn't been shown to increase your chances. I have had 3 IUIs, all one shot tries and I got pregnant on 2 out of 3 so I feel comfortable with only doing the one IUI. Good luck!

Re: my doc only does one iui...never 2....?
I started at RMA and only ever have 1 iui. Both other places did b2b. Ironically, I get pg with only 1 iui b/c the first one would have been a Sunday and they were closed, so we instead! And viola!!

Dr.B does back to back IUIs. I have also heard that it doesn't increase the chances a ton, but it can't hurt! If we didn't do back to back IUIs, I'd be sure to around it for good measure.

Re: my doc only does one iui...never 2....?
My dr. didn't do them either. I hadn't asked him why, but on my second round the one IUI did work. Trigger shot was on a Thursday, we were told to BD that night, nothing on Friday, IUI on Saturday, BD on Saturday night. I was concerned that the IUI was too late, but I guess he knew what he was doing.

Re: my doc only does one iui...never 2....?
I just did my first IUI at SIRM. My RE offered to do 2 IUI's, but she said that recent studies have shown there to be no added benefit. She felt that the IUI the day following my HCG trigger was the most important one. Because we used donor sperm and it's expensive, we decided (with RE support) to just do the one IUI.

????? really?? I just asked dr T today about back to back IUI and he said he does not do them due to lack of research. I assume you are seeing dr. Brown?

Yes, I see Dr. Browne. She definitely did not push the second IUI at all, but I think if I wanted it she would have done it. She never spoke to me about the B2B until the night before the IUI when she called to tell me to come in the next day. At that point, she said we could, but that recent studies have debunked the whole thing. At first I wanted to do it "just in case," but then I said maybe not since the donor sperm is such a hassle to get quickly. She agreed and really said it's no big deal. By the way, did Dr. T give you progesterone after? The nurses gave it to me, but I called her the next day and asked if it was really necessary b/c I was trying to minimize the extra hormones wherever possible. She said that also has minimal impact, so I decided not to take it.

yes, nurses gave me crinone to start right after I O. I was also on offense, but it seems to be a common practice. The reason is that if you get prego that cycle, they want to make sure your progesterone is high enough.
