Just curious, how was your recovery after giving birth to your twins?

Re: Recovery after twins
GREAT!
Scheduled c-section, made it to the day.
Day two, was up walking. Came home day four and I never felt pain, just sore.
I took drugs the day of and at nite so I could relax and feel good.
my 1st was a vaginal delivery with no meds/drugs...so this was cake to me

Re: Recovery after twins
my 1st was a vaginal delivery with a crappy recovery.
my twins were a somewhat emergency c/s. was admitted to the hospital wed and found out thurs afternoon they would be born thurs night.
fri i was up and by fri afternoon walking to the bathroom on my own. saturday my nurse (meanie) told me i had to get rid of the wheelchair and walk down to the NICU on my own! It was a long walk but it helped me. Once I was there the nurses made me sit and I stayed down there about an hour then walked back. From then on I was up a lot. Walked the halls, down the NICU every hour or so etc. Walking and moving around helped a lot!!! My roomate never got off her chair except to go the bathroom for 3 days and when she was discharged she could barely move.
That got long! LOL In short, they were born Thursday night (8:39 and 8:40pm) and I was out of bed in a chair friday morning and then walking around on saturday. I took the pain meds the first few days.....my friend is an OB resident and said too many people dont take them and then in turn don't move enough and end up worse off. My c/s recovery was no worse than my vaginal recovery.

Re: Recovery after twins
Had my c-section Saturday late night (they were born at 11:45pm) by the time visitors got there the next morning I was already out of bed, dressed in my own pjs and walking around. I was sore and in a little pain but everyday got better and better.

Re: Recovery after twins
Great! Had an emergency c/s at 36 weeks.
Tues AM: c/s
Wed: got up and walked around; kind of tough time getting up and laying back down; took lots of pills and felt much better! pain wasn't as bad as I expected.
Thurs: Felt much better after I took a shower and put on my own PJ's. Took fewer pills and felt ready to go home!
Friday: felt MUCH better; wanted to get discharged but they wouldn't let the boys go home yet so I stayed an extra day; took Motrin every 6 hours;
Sat: felt pretty good; took Motrin only as needed;
HTH!!!!!

Re: Recovery after twins
mine was not so great.. but wasn't the worst either.
i had a emergency C section at 36 weeks. i was in a great deal of pain the first 2 days. after the 3rd day when i was walking around a bit more and stretching i felt much better. by the time i went home i was walking pretty well without hunching over so much.

Re: Recovery after twins
I had my twins at 38wks, vaginally. My recovery was good....I was pretty sore for the two days following the delivery, but by the third day, I felt pretty good and was up and doing everything I needed to.

Re: Recovery after twins
wanted to add, my twins were born on thurs night and when i was discharged monday they had to stay. so i was out at a diner by the hospital monday night before going back to see them and walked in fine....my waitress asked about my hospital bands b/c her daughter is a nurse so when i told her i had twins 4 days ago she was shocked!!! i was back and forth at the hospital constantly and really felt fine physically.
and on the following friday when they were being discharged we took my son out to lunch and i was feeling fine.

Re: Recovery after twins
I delivered vaginally at 37 weeks and I was up walking around immediately, not bad recovery at all, looking back I should have taken it easier, though.

Re: Recovery after twins
Recovery after the twins was not much different than the recovery ater #1. I did have preeclampsia so I had some minor issues with blood pressure after the birth. I had a c-section both times and both times were equally rough for me. It was a full week before I felt better. ut after that week I was back in action 100%. I was on my own with all 3 kids after 13 days after giving birth, because we closed on our new house and DH spent every free second there geting the house ready for us to move in. And it was just fine!

Re: Recovery after twins
No different than any of my other deliveries really...
I delivered them at 35 weeks, vaginally, no pain meds. (The no pain meds was not by choice I went too quickly to get an epidural)
The hardest part that I had was that I had been on bed rest since I was 22 weeks. So I wasnt in the best of shape when I gave birth to them. It took some time to get used to being up and moving around again after being bed ridden for so long...

Re: Recovery after twins
My recovery was pretty good. The toughest time for me was during the c-section and getting morphine due to shoulder pain. I had a horrible reaction was very sick, developed fever, etc... By the 5th day (discharge day) I was feeling back to normal. However, I highly recommend not getting the morphine (my own opinion) if you have any discomfort during the surgery.

Re: Recovery after twins
i had a c/s with my first DS and also with the twins. i thought the recovery the second time around was much easier! i dont know if it was bc i knew what to expect or bc i had no choice but to force myself to move. the twins were taken straight to the NICU after birth and i didnt even get a chance to hold them. after being in recovery for 6 hrs (they keep you double after twins - at least at winthrop - bc they say it is such a sudden drop in hormones and more blood loss) i was taken to my room but i insisted that i was ready to sit up in a wheelchair bc i had to see my boys. i was sitting up that night and walking first thing the next morning. by 8 days post delivery i was driving.
good luck!!
ETA: i did take my pain meds religiously this time around. with my first i tried not to take them...what was i thinking
