My dog has a lot of dreams...do yours?
We have a 10 month old black lab / hound mix adopted from North Shore Animal League when she was 10 weeks old I noticed she has at least a dream per day. She barks and moves her legs (sometimes) during such dreams. She sounds so cute, but at times she does it around 2am and I have to go to work the following day. She is loud too. does your dog do that? should I worry? is that normal?
This is our first dog and we love her dearly. Our kitty passes away last February...she was 15 and we decided to adopt our beautiful and smart Scarlette. Our spoiled brat.....

OK, she woke me up at 3am with a loud barking. I got up to see what was going on and she was having another one of her dreams I mean her eyes were wide open, but she was in a deep sleep....

Re: My dog has a lot of dreams...do yours?
yes my dog dreams alot. I was reading about this and dog's have similar sleep cycles to humans in that they go through REM sleep. I think their cycles are shorter though. I'm pretty sure it said that if your dogs dreaming thats a good thing it means they are getting proper rest and reaching REM
Rexy doesn't really bark he whines and howls
I wish we could know what they are dreaming of

The lab I grew up with did and sometimes my dachsie lets out one sudden bark that wakes him and then he gets up to figure out what he was barking at.

Yes my dog dreams alot. He will cry in his sleep all the time. I used to wake him and hug him thinking he was having a bad dream until I realized, maybe its really a good one.. so now I leave him be

Does he have his eyes open when he does that? When my dog cries in her sleep and barks I look at her and her eyes are wide open...creepy!!! I worry because I think she is having a seizure but then she wakes up and looks at me like I am crazy because I am so close to her face to see what is going on

Re: My dog has a lot of dreams...do yours?
My chocolate Lab vocalizes a lot more in his dreams than my yellow. He growls in his sleep but they're these weak sounds that end on an up note - like a question. grrrRRRR?
Last night his growls were pretty serious sounding, I thought he was awake but he wasn't. They twitch and wag their tails when they're dreaming. I actually adore it, I never wake them up.

I have 3 dogs (2 Shih Tzu's and a Lab) and I notice that my lab is the one who dreams all of the time. Everyday. The other two rarely.

Re: My dog has a lot of dreams...do yours?
Yupp, my dogs dream a lot, too. I always wonder what they're dreaming about. One of them usually just twitches, the other ones moves her legs like she's running and gives little growls and barks. I just wake her up and she stops. I do the same thing to DH when he talks in his sleep.
