Our SW Called Us Last Night
and she has not yet submitted our HS b/c she has been sick for 1 1/2 weeks, but will do it by tomorrow or Thursday the latest. I had asked her not to mail it on April 1st (April Fools), but to mail it on the 2nd or 3rd, although it was nice of her to call, I wish it was mailed already!!

It's frustrating that she hasn't yet mailed it but at least she had the common courtesy to call you to tell you that she hasn't yet done so and had a legitimate excuse. Plus, she met with you so quickly that it kind of all evens out in the end. You're funny telling her not to mail your HS on April Fools Day. Superstitious Much? That means that NB probably has it in hand now! Are we going to get copies of what they wrote? I hope so! One step closer to Gochya Day!

Ugh that is so frustrating! Hopefully it will be with your agency soon.
I do think though that you will be getting a copy. You need to submitt it with your dossier and get it notarized (which usually the agency does) and I was told to bring a copy with us to China just in case.

So, my SW told me that you do not receive a copy of your homestudy report unless you are travelling (like in the China program) but I have sent an email to Cathy D. to ask if she will give me a copy anyway. I'm curious to see what it says!
So Sandra, did your SW send the homestudy report to NB yet?
I still have to do my album for the BMom. Do you China ladies have to do that?

When we used NB we did not get a copy. With the agency we are using now, we did get a copy. However, the picture album we made for them (birthmother) was retuned at the end. Which meant they never sent it over to Korea.

This is very upsetting to me. I really would love to read my homestudy. We put so much work into it; I'd love to see what the SW got out of it. Also, I worked REALLY hard on the album; I'll be devastated if it's not sent to Korea. Is this why you switched agencies?

Susan, I really think you should call and request a copy of your homestudy. You paid for it so it's your right to have it. I would also want to see what the SW said in it and to make sure there are not inaccuracies. You never know what typos can happen or how someone interpreted what you said.

I would def speak with Cathy D and tell her you want a copy & want to go over it. I was naive back then and I guess I was scared to "rock the boat" When I asked for a copy, they said, "Oh we don't do that" But now I spoken th hundreds of families who have adopted and mostly everyone gets a copy automatically of their homestudy. Not sure about Spence Chapin.

My emailed request was ignored (as usual). I guess I'll follow up on the phone. I asked my SW for a copy and she said that it's not regular protocol and that I'd have to get it directly from NB. I hope they will give it to us!
