The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo...

Did anyone read it and what did you think?? I just finished it and thought it was quite disturbing.. It took me a little while to get into it and I thought there were a little too many characters that he was talking about so that confused me a little.. but I thought it was pretty good.. I don't know if I want to read the rest of his books yet..

What did you guys think for those that have read it, I am curious for other's opinions..

I tried to but got only a dozen or so pages in and just stopped, I just couldnt get into it at all and I do not see what all the hype was about it.

Re: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo...

I did like it. The first hundred pages were tough, but after that I couldn't put it down. I needed to read something really light after that, and I'll pick up the second book in September.

I read it and it took me a while to get into it but I did like it. I read the second one and loved it. I thought it was even better than the first. I am almost done with the third and it is great!

I felt like the first one was hard to get into, then it picked up, and then slowed down again toward the end. I really liked the second book. The third one was good but there were whole sections that could have been edited out, IMO.

The Swedish version of the movie was fantastic. Parts were pretty disturbing but really well done. I watched it with the subtitles, but my mom borrowed from the library and it had English dubbing if you prefer.

Re: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo...

You know they are making it into a movie now.. I saw it on E News last night.. they cast a pretty unknown actress for the lead and I can't remember who's in the cast but it's pretty well known actors.. I would totally go see it..

Re: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo...

I jsut ordered it from the library because I heard so many good things, but it's on backorder. I'm glad I read this and I'll give it chance if the beginning is tough.

The movie has the chic from the new Nigthmare on Elmstreet movie and Daniel Craig.

I loved it- in fact, it turned me into a Scandinavian crime fiction nut. Chat Icon I seem to recall that it did take a while to get into- but then I read it in about 2 days. I read the other two but the first one was my favorite.

I read it because I heard such great things about it. It was worth the read but I didn't love it like other people did. I'll still read the series but I don't think it was anything better than a good episode of law and order.

I feel like the only person on Earth who didn't care for this book. Chat Icon Maybe crime/mystery fiction isn't my thing, but I thought the book was poorly written (or translated), the plot was nothing special, and the characters were mostly one dimensional. I won't be finishing the series.

Re: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo...

I read it last summer and LOVED it.

read the 2nd and 3rd one's earlier this year - loved those too. They're all part of the same story, so its hard to say that you didn't like one or the other

I saw the Swedish version of the film and thought it was perfectly done. I won't see the American version as i preferred seeing the story with unknown actors. I feel that sometimes if you know the actor, they can get in the way of the story.

There is lots of character development that you need to get 'over the hump' on in order to get to more activity.. but once you get there it's great!

Re: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo...

I read each book back to back and I really enjoyed them. I just saw the 1st film and was so happy that the characters looked exactly how I imagined them!! I hope they don't ruin the American version.

There was alot of information and charachter buildup so you had to remember who was who but I think the story is great and I was sad when I finished the 3rd.

I understand that Steig Larsson was a very political person and I imagine that Bloomkvist is based on himself.
