need some hugs good vibes RE: possible vanishing twin
I am a regular poster on the parenting board, but i'm in hiding for now. I got a bfp about 3 weeks ago  and just saw the doctor yesterday and I'm about 7.5 weeks pregnant. There was also another very small sac with a yolk, but no fetus  and my doctor said that it is not viable and my body will re-absorb it (vanishing twin).
I don't want to get my hopes up, but it so hard not to because I know people that were told the same thing and they wound up with healthy twins. I am a very positive person and this whole thing is just not sitting well with me. I need some inspirational stories ladies.
I also just want to say that I am beyond thrilled that there is one healthy baby growing inside me, but I would really love two.

first, congratulations.
I know of 3 women in the same situation that went on to have 1 healthy baby.
I had a similar situation - in 2008, I was pg with twins (saw heartbeats every week from 6-9), but at my 12 wk appt, only 1 baby still had a HB. The other baby measured 10wks and was no longer viable.

Like Shorty, I had the same thing in 2008 when I was pregnant with twins. We saw two heartbeats up until 8 weeks & then only one. That one resulted in my little guy but the other did absorb.

Wow...what is the connection with '08. I was also pregnant with twins...saw both heartbeats at every appt. was released from the fertility dr. and had 2 appt. with my ob/gyn. everything looked great every week..then at my 12 wk appt. there was only 1 heartbeat. I won't lie, i think about that baby from time to time wondering if it was a boy or a girl, etc. BUT I have the most amazing 2 yr. old lil boy, who is healthy, smart, and simply amazing. Not a day goes by that I don't cherish him to bits!!! In the back of my mind, I always think there is a reason for why certain things happen...if this baby would have gone on and developed would it have been healthy...better at 12 wks. when it is still early, and before the chance to completely fall in love with that lil cutie. Good luck...and lots of hugs to you...things will work out...
