Pulitzer Prize Winning Books: Need Recommendations

My secret Santa recipient at wor. wrote on his application (we take secret Santa very seriously) that ge would like a Pulitzer Prize winng novel, but NOT The Road or Cavaliar and Clay.

He is a male on his early-mid 20s. Very intellectual. I would do a google for Pulitzer prize winning novels, but I thought live feedback would be helpful.

Thanks for your help!

Empire Falls, by Richard Russo.

Amazing story and characterization, and one of my favorite books of all time.

The Accidental Tourist by Anne Tyler, but it was a finalist not a winner. My favorite book by her Breathing Lessons was a winner, but is better suited for women.

I was a lit minor so I had to read a lot. Some of my favorites are:

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton
The Yearling by Marjarie Rawlings
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
The Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway
The Color Purple by Alice Walker

The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz was AMAZING and very appropriate for a twentysomething male.

So funny! I remembered this one after I posted this and bought it for him. I never finished reading it myself. Chat Icon
