DD is so sick

DD has been sick before, she had Roseola, she's had her ear infections her colds, but this is just so bad. She's wheezing so badly, when she breathes u hear it in her chest, her voice is so hoarse, and she just sounds so sad..I'm so nervous with her sleeping tonight...She's thankfully in such great spirits considering but I can't help but be so nervous and feel awful for her..She's on zithromax and started it today, but my ped freaked me out saying that pneumonia is going around so now I'm freaking...Ugh, sorry for the vent, but DH keeps saying I'm freaking out for nothing so thought I could vent here!!!

I'm sure she'll be fine. watch her color through the night if poss(blue around lips, nose is troublesome) Try a steamy shower, humidify the room, vicks on the chest and feet. Hope she feels better soon! If she's still bad on Monday maybe you can get a nebulizer? Helped my kids ALOT when they had RSV

I hear ya! My DD sounds like the kid from "The Shining" right now. Redrum! Not nice!

I did the steam shower & hung out in the bathroom, baby Vicks on the feet & chest, humidifier in the room & the Vicks children's plug in in her room. The cold seems like it is starting to break up with all of that---yesterday she was barking like a dog though with her cough. It's scary stuff!

Watch her breathing. My DS had pneumonia in July and his main symptom was fever and his breathing was weird. He kept breathing fast and making grunting noises. I took him to the ped and they had no idea he had pneumonia until they told me to go to the hospital for an xray. He sound clear to them

I was diagnosed with pneumonia on Wednesday. Literally started over night. I had 103 fever and wheezing with a cough. The dr took a chest dray and put me on an antibiotic and I have to do nebulizer treatments at home. I'm surprised your didn't suggest the nebulizer.

Hope she feels better! Keep an eye on her breathing!

She was much better this am when we took her to the ped, it was literally in a matter of hours that it became worse...so I think thats why no nebulizer yet

It's really going around, it's crazy!!!

I would def. use a humidifier and prop her head up when sleeping if possible, Do you have a nebulizer?

We have been going through this too. I gave her a pillow pet...it is her first pillow ever and it kept her head propped up which helped. Im surprised they didnt do an xray to check- they did 2 this past week on DD. I would def be nebulizing her too- do you have one?

Definitely keep her head and chest elevated and maybe rub some baby vapor rub on her chest so she breathes better?

Also, if she's miserable and doesnt sleep well let her sleep with you so you can keep an eye on her.

Thanks everyone, well she slept OK, considering, she just woke up an hour earlier than normal. We kept her elevated, and her room with a humidifier and vapor plug ins and rubbed some on her feet...she's in amazing spirits but still sounds AWFUL...Everything is so tight in her chest you hear it...I may just bring her in tomorrow if it doens't change

Hope she is feeling better soon. I always find that day 3 of antibiotics seems to be the turning point.
