Those that have a diagnosis...do you...
Go to a Developmental Ped?
I talked to some moms, and they said that they take their child to one. just wondering what else will they do?
And if so, do you recommned yours?

Welcome! what does the DAN do?
to the OP, we see a dev. ped since birth, he just happened to be the ped in the practice we chose and worked out well. if he wasn't our normal ped. i probably wouldn't take them to one often but it couldn't hurt to get a new perspective/advice.

We have only seen the DAN once, it was our initial consultation. We went over all our history and she did a physical exam of my son. She also did numerous blood tests and sent us home with a supplement plan in place. We have gone back and fourth via email several times and our follow-up is after the new year. Hope this helps.

our reg ped deal with autism so we never went to see a dev ped.
as for DAN doctors... we have never seen one, and we probably wont, even though some people swear by them.
i am not putting anyone down who has or does see them, but we dont have $150K a year to shell out for 5% chance of improvement, nor can we afford a $75K hyperbolic chamber for the house.
i have spoken to many parents who have the money to see DAN doctors... and i would say its really split...
some people swear by them...
we did see a metabolic specialist though... and DS was put on Diflucan... but one of the things we had to watch out for was liver damage.
it didnt help though.
so we do a mostly dairy free diet...
sorry i just realized i babbled about nothing.

What really pushed me over the edge to see a DAN was the horrible constipation and lack of speech. I went back and fourth for many months and then finally decided to go for it. I didn't want my 3 year dependent on miralax to go to the bathroom anymore.

i honestly cant remember the name of the dr we called... i have it written down somewhere but the initial consultation was $600 and each visit there after would range from $300-$1000. and they wanted to see him 2x a week...
yup.. i am not rich, so we did not go

I take my dd to a DAN practioner. She is actually an OT, and a nutritonist. She is wonderful and full of knowledge. She uses ZYTO technology. She is located in Valley Stream, and is very affordable. I can not say enough great things about her and what she has done for my dd. She has worked with so many little ones as an OT that she just sees this from a lot of angles. She was recommended to me by the leader of the Sensory Processing Disorder support group.
My dd is stronger, more verbal and just more grounded from the supplements.
If anyone wants her info please feel free to FM me.
ETA her initial consult was about $150 if I remember correctly and she sees my dd about every 5 weeks because you have to give the supplements time to 'work' or "heal". She is accessible via email. She encourages you to keep her posted often. Her appointments last well over an hour.

We don't see a dev ped on a regular basis but we've consulted in the past. We are going to see Dr. Larry Pavlevsky (a holistic MD ped) in January. I'll let you know how it goes.
