Public librarian jobs
Does anyone know of a good website to search for public librarian jobs on the island? I've tried looking at some of the websites for the specific library, but I can't seem to find listings on any of them. Or does anyone know another good way to find a public librarian job?

You need to get on the civil service list at most Long Island Libraries. There are a few that are non civil service and you can apply directly to the library.
Did you complete your masters in Library and Information Science?

Thanks for this. I do have my MLS and I currently work in a law firm library. I'll take a look at the civil service stuff.

You do need to go through the county website for both, I believe.
link to nassau you may have to be a nassau resident?
I don't see anything on suffolk civil service site that positions are available
(here is the description.
but you don't need to go through any of this if you just want PT.
getting onto listservs at Post or QC might be good so you could get job listings.

It looks like Suffolk had librarian tests back in late 2009, so it may be a couple of years before they give the test again. You mentioned that you work in a law library, so you might be interested in working for the state court system. They have a test coming up on June 11th.

I'm pretty sure the library test is given every 2 years - so it looks like it is coming up this year?
