MIL weirding me out again.....
Does anyone elses MIL call your baby her baby? This weekend, I asked my MIL what was in something she cooked and she told me some ingrediants, then said, " I didn't put such and such in it, because I am not going to feed that to my baby." She said it a few other times over the weekend and it wasn't cutsie, just weird, like it was really her baby. She is really making me feel weird. My mom doesn't say "my baby" why does my MIL?

that sounds like something my MIL would say. it would weird me out too. she still calls DH her baby, which i think is weird.

Yes, mine too and she says things like.... "Don't worry... Mommy's here" over everything.... like if he is hungry... Don't worry, Mommy's here. If he is tired... Don't worry, Mommy's here. It is soooooo WEIRD!!! Um, MOmmy.... He is in his 30's!

OMG!! My MIL says the same thing!!! "How's my baby today?" She told me she's saving her two weeks of vacation for when I come home from the hospital so she can stay with us. She lives 10 minutes away.  Dh will put a fast stop to that one.

Sometimes my mom says stuff like that, but in my case I think it's really cute. This is her first grandchild and she is just so excited about it & already in love with her grandaughter. So sometimes she'll refer to her as "our baby". I don't know - I don't find it weird at all. I think it's sweet how in love she is with baby girl. Shows how cherished  will be.

Sometimes I think us pregnant gals should not have to be subjected to the idiocy of our inlaws...we're already dealing w/ hormones, weight gain, and pregnancy worries...the last thing we need is to be annoyed unecessarily by our inlaws!

I don't think my MIL is over the fact that I'm marreid to her baby so as soon as she lets go of that idea I'm sure she'll sink her teeth into MY baby.

Yep. My MIL will ask me repeatedly if I want another helping of something because she doesn't want 'her baby' to get hungry.
She'll also rub my belly and talk all weird to my child as well.
For one of my dr appointments, she even came with me  when the doctor walked in she started talking to the doctor about how she's so excited but is nervous to bathe a newborn again...and how all her friends are telling her to get her sleep now. Seriously?
I try to, whenever she refers to my baby as her baby...refer to DH as MY BABY.
It shuts her up temporarily....but this baby is living in my uterus, leaning on my bladder and giving me all sorts of nasty symptoms...it is MINE
