Re: antidepressants - question
i am on Zoloft for post-partum deperession. I was never on anti-depressants until last year. I am PG again and am still taking the meds. OB says the risks to the baby are WORSE if I'm not on it (low birth weight among other things).
I think it all depends on what you're on and the amount/frequency. I am on a low dose once a day.

Re: antidepressants - question
I was on Zoloft before I got pregnant and then was on it while I was pregnant for a few months...Then I was on Lexapro at 6 months PP for PPD....I weaned myself off of that at 9 months PP....Going to go back on Zoloft next month. I have depression and anxiety.

Re: antidepressants - question
I was on Zoloft but it didn't work well for me so the doctor switched me to Cymbalta, which has been great. I had terrible anxiety.

Re: antidepressants - question
I have been dealing with this question also. I am not TTC just yet, but I do have really bad anxiety and am on Lexapro, which is a class C drug. OB also said that the risks to the baby are WORSE if I'm not on it (lower dose), although my regular doctor says to come off of it completely. I myself, do not know what to do, but you are def. not alone.

Re: antidepressants - question
I'm not TTCing yet but will be this year--and I've been on Prozac for a number of years.
I've discussed lowering my dosage with my dr. a bit when we are TTCing but she wants to keep me on it on it throughout a pregnancy.

Re: antidepressants - question
HI! I WAS ON LOW DOSE ZOLOFT WHILE PREG. AND AFTER I GAVE BIRTH. ALL WENT WELL. MY DAUGHTER IS 4 YRS. OLD NOW. ABOUT A YEAR AGO MY DOSE WAS INCREASED, BUT IT AFFECTED ME IN A NEGATIVE WAY, ACTUALLY I AM OFF IT NOW FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND FEEL 100% BETTER THAN I DID WHEN ON ZOLOFT. THE PAST YEAR MY HEART WAS RACING LIKE CRAZY, MY BP WAS SLIGHTLY ELEVATED, AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT I BECAME ANGRY AND ANXIOUS! I STARTED ACCUPUNCTURE AND WAS TOLD SOMETIMES AN ANTIDEPRESSANT CAN DO SOME OF THOSE THINGS. MY DOCTOR WEANED ME OFF AND I FEEL FINE NOW! I RECOMMEND ACCUPUNCTURE.
