Prayers for my dad
In October, he went to the urologist and the doctor felt something on his prostate, but said that it was small and smooth which was a good sign. His blood levels came up high, so he was sent to have a biopsy done to rule out lab error. Last Thursday he had the biopsy done. Yesterday he went back to the doctor and it was cancer. He's now being sent to have a bone scan done to see if it spread. The doctor feels that it didn't spread, but who know.
Please keep my dad in your prayers.

Re: Prayers for my dad
Jennifer, to encourage you, my DH had prostate cancer, and we were surprised at how many men have it!!!! He chose radiation seeds, as opposed to surgery, several yrs. ago. The prognosis was about the same, but with radiation seeds, he was able to return to work faster. He has been cancer free!!!! I will pray for your Dad!!!! Also, a friend/former prostate cancer survivor, suggested the book, Dr. Patrick Walsh's Guide to Surviving Prostate Cancer. Dr. Walsh is Professor of Urology at The John Hopkins Medical Institutions. Thank you everyone for the prayers. Today he's having the bone scan to see if it spread. I'll keep you updated.

Thanks Mary
My dad might not be a candidate for surgery because of his heart and he had stents put in. My mom was telling me about the seeds, but what sucks is that my DD and I can't go near either one of them for 6-8 weeks because of exposure. That will be hard if he opts for that treatment. Oh well that's why they have webcams. What keeps me going is that my grandfather (mom's dad) had prostate cancer and it spread throughout his back up to his skull. With radiation treatment, he lived for another 20 years.
How long has your DH been cancer free?

Re: Prayers for my dad
Many to you and your dad and family.
I know that my uncle had prostate cancer and he did go through the seeds treatment. He has been cancer free for a couple years now.

Prostate cancer seems to have a high cure/remission rate!!! DH was diagnosed in 2003, he thinks. I would have to check my journal. I'll keep praying honey!!!! Mary
