Dr Recs?
Hi, I'm new on here. I just found out last week that I'm pregnant with twins, most likely identical. It's almost 8 weeks, and it's my first pregnancy! I'm very excited but also getting a little scared because I have no experience taking care of one baby, let alone two!
Anyway, I just wanted to know are there any doctors on LI that are more experienced in dealing with multiple births? I really wanted to go to a good hospital like North Shore. Can anyone recommend an OB? Thank you! I'm sure I'll have lots of questions throughout this pregnancy!

Re: Dr Recs?
Congrats on your twin pregnancy!
you will do just fine!
i think if you want to be looked at more closely with a twin pregnancy you should maybe seek a high risk doctor (perinatologist) i saw Dr. Kofinas in garden city who is top notch.. he is excellent!
so between seeing him and my regular OB it was very reassuring!
my OB is in garden city as well. its called University Plaza with 3 ob's Dr. Miller, Cafaro, and Rosenberg. i loved them all and they are affiliated with Winthrop which is an excellent hospital !
best of luck to you!

I saw all the same Drs. And could not agree more with what Metsgirl is saying. I had such a wonderful experience with Dr. Kofinas and Drs. Miller, Cafaro and Rosenberg. I gave birth at winthrop and my babies were in tye NICU for a month. I had a wonderful experience there in L&D and the NICU.
Congratulations on your twin pregnancy and good luck

Re: Dr Recs?
Thanks everyone! I will look into all the recs. I actually checked and the University Plaza doctors are covered under my insurance and Winthrop is in-network as well. I was told North Shore wasn't an in-network hospital when I thought it was.
Does the high risk doctor, Dr. Kofinas, take most insurance? I have Cigna. Thank you!

Re: Dr Recs?
First, Congratulations on your twin pregnancy...it may be rough but it is so rewarding!
Just curious why the docs are suspecting that they are identical? I have identical twin boys so if you have any questions regarding Identical twins feel free to ask.
As far as doctors, Dr. Kofinas is top notch when it comes to high risk pregnancies. He is absolutely amazing. I see Dr. Pillitteri in Deer Park for the OB part. He did my C-section and I also highly recomment him.
My twins were in the NICU at Good Samaritan for a month and I was very happy with them as well.
Best of luck!!!!

You have to call and see if he takes Cigna. But how it works with him is if he takes your insurance, he takes it as out of network. All you pay when you go is your specialist co-pay. Whatever the insurance does not pay, he writes off. His phone number is 516-832-0300. His office is also right next door to University plaza.

They suspect identical since they are sharing the placenta, but they didn't say definitely, they just said most likely they're identical. I'm sure I'll have questions for you!
It's crazy though. We always thought we could have twins because my father-in-law is an identical twin. And we're pregnant with identical twins now! But then I read that identical twins are not hereditary, so does that just mean it's a big coincidence? Just very strange! My brother also has fraternal twins but not sure if that has to be the mother's side.

Re: Dr Recs?
Hey -- also another question, for the doctors that you used, did they do the delivery for you as well? Thanks!
