Anyone going to the rally Thursday?
Just wondering if anyone is going to the rally to fight the budget cuts Thursday at Sachem East? I'm probably going...don't think it's going to change anything, but I'm still going...

Honestly, I'm shocked there's been no talk about this in the boards at all.

Really any teachers that can make ity should be there. You'd be surprised at the power of #'s.

i agree, if you can go, you should go. The rally is to protest the budget cuts to Long Island schools. They're calling it a rally for public education. It's at Sachem High School East Auditorium 177 Granny Road Farmingville

I heard that it's not just teachers. They said to bring your families to show support...the more numbers, the better....
Did anyone else hear this?

Yes. It says that right on the flyer they gave us...bring everyone and anyone! We'll see what is the result of this....

I only found out about the rally today. UGH. I'm trying to rearrange my schedule to be able to go.
I'm also surprised there hasn't been much talk on LIF about Cuomo's proposed tax cap. This will be devastating to our education system! I wish more people understood the ramifications of all of this. It's just awful.

I teach in Westchester but just wanted LI teachers to know that you were mentioned in our last union meeting about how well your unions stick together and are very knowledgeable.

I am going! I think as many people as possible should go. To be honest, this effects a lot of people. Not just teachers.
We had a meeting with one of our assistant superintendents this afternoon and he explained about this proposed tax cap which could be detrimental to the school districts across the state. We need to get out there and make a statement!
