Recommend your cat litter...

THAT WORKS!! OMG who knew picking a perfect litter would be such a task! We have tried Scoop Away, Fresh Step, Arm and Hammer, and now we are on BJ's (big mistake by the way, the worst litter in the world). We have two cats. We clean the box everyday but it still smells like urine and we keep it in the laundry room. I have a tiny one story bungalow home so I need something that soaks up the urine smell and clumps. This BJ's brand doesn't clump so you can't scoop the pee out of it making the urine smell so much worse!

Re: Recommend your cat litter...

I only have one cat.
I use Feline Pine, which is made up of compressed pine pellets.
The poo can be picked out and flushed and the pee breaks down the pellets and is absorbed by them.
I shake the box once a day to redistribute the pellets.
It lasts two weeks before I change the box. I don't smell pee, just her poo until I scoop it out.

You can try a bag for free Feline Pine Rebate to see if you and your cats like it.

I buy Everclear. No complaints so far. It clumps all the pee to a lil pee patty and covers the poo stench lol. Cats are fine with it to. lol

Re: Recommend your cat litter...

Sorry I use Fresh Step and love it. DH especially, who was anti-cat to begin with - loves it because it covers all the odors from my cat, but I only have one.

ETA: You are using the multi-cat formulas right? I had a friend who went through a ton of litters until she happened to realize that there were multi-cat formulas. Once she switched to that she was fine.

Re: Recommend your cat litter...

My kitty passed away in December, but I just used to use whatever was on sale. But, I changed the litter box everyday.

1. Big bag of garbage bags
2. Cat litter
3. baking soda

I put the garbage bag over the litter box, put litter in the bottom with a little bit of baking soda to absorb any odor. Change the garbage bag everyday. Once a week I scrubbed the box and the cover in hot water and cleaner (not ammonia based).

If, for some reason, something got through the bag to the box, i cleaned it right away.

I found the 5 minutes I spent everyday to so this was worth not having any odors.

Re: Recommend your cat litter...

I use Fresh Step, but the clumping one. If Hades poops, of course it smells for a few minutes, but never of urine. We fill it up pretty high so he can fully bury it. Maybe that is the problem.

I use Fresh Step Multi-cat too. It's a must.

I completely dump the litter each week though. I'm a little wasteful that way but no one can say my house smells of cat.

We use the crystals.. i love it because there's less dust, and less cat urine smell

at first Tidy Cat had the crystals, then they stopped making them and we moved to Target Brand, then they seemed to stop making them so now we use Fresh Step

I like Scoop Away, and my Emily likes it too. The clumping litter makes it so easy to clean & it comes in a multiple cat formula. Good luck!
