Daycare question- Vent
Does your son or daughter seem like there ALWAYS sick... I've gotten like 3 calls in the past 2 wks saying he's vomitting or has a fever to come pick him up. One of the girls at work gave me a little additude about leaving again, but there's nothing I can do People are starting to make comments like- wow! he's sick alot huh? It just annoys me.

Re: Daycare question- Vent
if you do a search for daycare, i'm sure you'll find thousands of posts about kids getting sick. it comes with the territory. your child is around other kids all day. they put things in their mouth and constantly share germs. i try to see it as he may get sick a lot now, but when hes in kindergarten he'll be the healthiest kid in the glass!
and tell your co-workers to ST$U.

Yes, we just went through 2 months of this...it SUCKS.
I hope next winter she won't be this bad...
It sucks, there's nothing you can do. Tell your co-workers to mind their own business.

Re: Daycare question- Vent
How old is your DC?
I know from my experience, as my DS gets older he is not getting sick as much. When he first went into daycare at 12 months, he was sick ALL THE TIME.
Now that he is 3 1/2, it's gotten much better.
ETA: Plus, this winter in general has been especially bad. I now have 2 DC in daycare and between ear infections, stomach viruses, snotty noses, wheezy breathing... there's always something going around and being cooped up all day not being able to go outside is not helping.

Totally agree. DS was the sickest between 9 and 15 months. Since then he has been really healthy.

Re: Daycare question- Vent
Yup, but like the PP's said... it comes with the territory. It's the downside of having them in daycare and getting exposed. WE can't keep them in a bubble. DS gets ear infections all the time. The positive is he loves daycare, his teachers, learns a lot, is very social, etc.
Hopefully it'll get better. Once the warmer weather comes it should help

Re: Daycare question- Vent
DS' nose has been running since October - on top of 2 ear infections, 2 viral infections, two stomach viruses, and the chicken pox.
It's par for the course, luckily my boss is nice and understanding and my DH is able to spend time home with DS as well.

Re: Daycare question- Vent
And on the flip side- my DD is in daycare- she has been since 8 weeks old. She is now 8 months and has never been sick. Except for a stomach virus that she got at my mom's house on xmas due to family members who were sick coming over and not telling us! So that wasn't even from daycare.
I think if they are going to get sick- they are going to get sick. Daycare or not.
