If you worked during your pregnancy...
I have a few questions :) How long did you work for? Did you go until you delivered? Did you stop because you were uncomfortable? Were you put on bedrest?
I am currently working and going to be 24 weeks on Friday but I have to say I am extremely uncomfortable sitting at my desk 8 hours a day. I feel like I am suffocating and constantly taking breaks to stand up and walk around which only helps for a little bit since right when I sit back down I feel like I can't breath again! I don't forsee myself being here till the end. It was so different with DD, I was here till the very end but this just feels so different!

Re: If you worked during your pregnancy...
I was on and off bedrest my entire pregnancy so I was in and out of work a little. But I worked until 31 weeks part time. I have a pretty physical job so my high risk dr put me at part time starting around 25 weeks. I worked every other day to give my cervix a rest the day after I worked. Funny thing is at 31 weeks the high risk dr was going to let me continue working because my cervix was stable but my OB wanted me off my feet because I had severe swelling. With my job I am on my feet and on and off the floor all day long (work with little kids) and by 31 weeks I was DONE!
Feel better! It is all worth it in the end

Worked to the day of my c-section...38wks
I have an office job, so I sit all day. Def uncomfortable and I had to sit on a wedge for my back and then had to eventually prop my feet.
I didnt get any bedrest.
- I did it to not loose anytime that I could use for maternity.

Wow you are good! What kind of wedge did you use for your back?

Re: If you worked during your pregnancy...
I worked til just over 34 weeks. I am on my feet all day so it was a different kind of exhaustion than sitting. I was planning on working longer but started pre term labor. Then I worked from home til the day they were born. (I worked pt though, not ft)

Re: If you worked during your pregnancy...
I worked until the day before my C-section (38.5 weeks) but I started working from home -- still 9-5 -- at 30 weeks because my office moved to NYC and I couldn't do the commute. Sitting for long stretches was so hard towards the end, but I wanted to maximize my leave for after the babies were born.

I worked until I was 30 weeks, commuting to the city no less. I went on bed rest at that time due to pre term contractions.

Re: If you worked during your pregnancy...
The high risk doctor that I see wants to put me on modified bed rest at 24 weeks. He said I can work but then I have to go home and put my feet up. At 30 weeks he wants me to stop work (not sure if that means complete bed rest.) I'm a teacher and I'm constantly on my feet. I teach math so I find it very hard to teach sitting down. I get dizzy and faint almost every period that I teach. I feel the same way that you do...I want so badly to stick it out longer but I'm having a difficult time. The doctor said that if I need to stop work soon, he'll write me a note. I have so many sick days banked that I really want to use them for this. I want to keep these babies in for as long as I can

Re: If you worked during your pregnancy...
Friday was my last day of work because my school is closed for February break this week....so technically my leave starts Monday and I will be 37 weeks. I was uncomfortable and tired but I don't feel much better sitting at home either. I was very lucky because I teach an inclusion kindergarten class and there was always another teacher or an aide in my room so if I needed to sit, go to the bathroom, take a little break I could. Good luck!!! It's not easy.

Teacher here as well
Can you get an overhead (I know, dated since it seems like every district except mine has Smart Boards in every room), sit next to it and try to teach at least part of the lesson sitting down?
My due date was April 4th. My first high risk appt. was the afternoon of the first day of school. Doc.'s note got me out of lunch duty that year I tried to at least teach my AP classes mostly sitting down. I remember feeling fine until about week 22-24 and then every morning when the alarm would go off I'd turn to my DH and say, "Oh God, how many more days "... physically it was getting too much. I had over 100 days banked from teaching over 10 years. They wouldn't let me use them into the next academic year, I had to either come back or take unpaid leave, so I decided to leave at the end of Jan Regents week... I worked that week because it was only proctoring... week 29. The babies were born 2 months later at 38 weeks. Who knows if the time at home helped keep them in longer or not... it just became so exhausting to get through the day.
I couldn't imagine doing the commute and the physical demands of the schedule the last 2 months. I would have done it if I absolutely had to but the last few weeks I was really dragging. Once I was home I would pace myself with housecleaning and cooking... a few days I just did my best manatee impression
Good luck

Re: If you worked during your pregnancy...
I'm going to try using the overhead when I get back...I hope that will help a little bit! Thanks!
I had cafeteria duty this year and I asked the principal a few weeks ago if it was possible to switch to hall duty. It wasn't a problem at all.
I have a little over 160 sick days banked and I feel the same way you did...I know the quarter ends April 1st...I'm hoping I can work until then and get my leave replacement organized for the 4th quarter. I feel so bad for my kids...they have the assessment tests in May and Regents in June. It would be ideal to go out earlier so the students could get adjusted to the new teacher.

Re: If you worked during your pregnancy...
My doctor's note will take me out of work at 30 weeks when I will begin bedrest. I am also a teacher and had this week off, so the last day I worked was right at 29 weeks. Originally, my doc wanted to take me out of work at 32 weeks, but it really became impossible for me to work. I was having trouble breathing (which was resulting in hyperventilating), could not get comfortable when teaching (back killed me when I was standing, I couldn't breath while sitting and really just needed to be lying down on my left side), and my husband had to pick me up from work a few times because of these symptoms. I have felt much better since being at home. Reality of bedrest will set in next week, but I tried to take it easy this week and tie up any loose ends.
I hope you are feeling well!
