I am taking the next step on DS' speech
DS has not progressed passed a few "sounds" in 2 years. 2 SLPs. And after a few months in school (I was hoping it would "click"), we have no words still and no motor imitation.
I contacted our SD. We have a meeting next Thursday regarding speech.
I am going to ask for prompt therapy as an add on home services.
Cross your fingers for us if you don't mind.
I am going to put on a my "sales" hat and sell it to them. I hope it goes smoothly.

Re: I am taking the next step on DS' speech
DHs cousins son has apraxia. He didn't say a word at 3 years old and after starting prompt therapy is doing wonderfully 2 years later. He will be getting speech therapy for years to come, but the improvement was tremendous.

prompt is amazing! i've seen sooo many kids not say a word at 3 and 4 years old and then with a specialized school and prompt they start talking! sell it, don't take no for an answer and fight for it if u have to!

Good Luck !
Make sure, they are clear that the therapist will be PROMPT certified and not just "trained".

Yes, I am going for FULL prompt certified. Not just "some" prompt training. Thank you!

I feel ignorant, but I haven't heard of prompt - what is it exactly? Is it something the state provides?
