Questions for in home daycares
I am starting the process of looking for daycare for my twins for sept. I only need 2 days and I am looking at licensed in home daycares.
I feel like such a dope when I call...I don't know what questions to ask them.
Besides the obvious how much, hours, availability what should I be asking.
I feel like such a dope!

Re: Questions for in home daycares
ask how many kids are there and their ages. This was the biggest deal for me. I did not want DD with a lot of other kids.

Re: Questions for in home daycares
Does the fee cover any time drop off/pick up? Or is it extra for early/late drop off/pick up?
How many kids are there?
Where will they nap?
Who's in the home during daycare hours? Are they registered as a provider/back-up as well?
CPR/First aid certified?
Protocol in an emergency?
Do they provide food/snacks etc?
Are they nut free?

Re: Questions for in home daycares
DS goes to an in house daycare. I called and ask to meet with her. I wanted to see the area for myself and ask as many questions that come to mind. Like okay here are stairs what do you do with these? Any pets? Where do they sit for meals?

Re: Questions for in home daycares
Absolutely check the OCFS website to make sure they are a licensed in home daycare and that they haven't had any violations in the past 2 years. Also see how long they have been opened. I wouldn't want to send my kids to a site that just opened and has no track record at all.

Why are you planning to use a home day care and not a day care center?

I am looking into everything right now. My parents are watching them 3 days so looking for 2 days...looking at daycare centers, in home daycare and a baby sitter at my house. I have NO idea what I feel most comfortable with. I figured I would know after visiting them. Also I think an in home daycare may be more affordable since I have twins?

You might be surprised- I found that the center I am at is not much more- if not the SAME as most in home providers.
