Utilities
How much do you pay for utilities every month? (gas, electric, heat, etc)
I am putting together my budget for our new home and have only paid utilities for apartments, so not sure how much more it might be..

Re: Utilities
usually $150 electric and $200 for gas in winter switches in the summer. I have to say I sometimes have it less then that but that is the average for a three bedroom, two bath ranch.

Re: Utilities
We don't do budget, so its usually $200/mo in the winter for electric and we fill tank about 1x month for $600, in the summer we pay $400/mo for electirc. water and sewer are about $60/mo. The other thing is cable and that is $140/mo.

Re: Utilities
last month's statement was like $200 for gas and $150 for electric.. in the summer the gas was about $70 and the electric is like $300 or more but that is because we have central air. our water varies from month to month because sometimes we over pay and the next month they charge us less, but i want to say around $80.

Re: Utilities
I voted 150-200, but that was not including oil.
Oil has been about 700 per fill up every 45 days this winter.. Obviously will go down as it warms up outside

Re: Utilities
We don't do the "budget" plan so oil is about $350 a month in the winter and $40 a month or so in the summer (for hot water). Averaged out, it probably works out to about $200/month.
Electric is about $60 in the winter and $100 in the summer.
We live in a 4-bedroom cape.

Re: Utilities
Electric for us is anywhere between $50-80/month. We get around 4 oil deliveries a year, which average $600-700 each.

Re: Utilities
Our electric is on a balanced budget of $130
We have oil heat and just buy what we need so it depends what it is at that time. I would aslo say we typically don't buy any oil from around April - November so that is a plus I guess...

Re: Utilities
In the summer, a little less than $200 for both. In the winter, about $250 for both.

Re: Utilities
We have forced hot air (natural gas) and CAC. For National Grid & LIPA, we pay around $300-350 in the winter months (and we keep our heat LOW) and around $200-250 in the summer months.

Re: Utilities
We pay $100/month gas and $120/month electric. We are on balanced billing.
Before we did balanced, our gas would be $300+ in the winter (I'm always cold) and $25ish in the warmer months.

Re: Utilities
I accidently hit $100-$150, that is what it is now. I'm not sure what will happen when the summer hits and the central air will be in use. We are not on balanced billing.

Re: Utilities
So its seems like balanced billing is the way to go if you want your bill to be consistent every month..

yes balanced billing makes budgeting so much easier. for us, we pay $150/month electric and heat is about $200/month (more in winter and none in summer)
