Urgent help needed for kitty -UPDATED WITH PICTURE IN ORIGINAL POST
Hi everyone.
There is a cat in our complex that has been seen for days now. He comes up to you, has no front claws, and was desperately hungry. We trapped him and brought him to the vet to see if he had a chip but didnt. The vet could not keep him. We tried calling a cat rescue, bidawee, and the little shelter...no one could take him. It was suggested we take him to brookhaven but thats a kill shelter and we dont want to do that. My husband is highly allergic so we could not keep him. Because of the terms of our lease we would not be able to keep him crated on our porch either. We had to let him go but he keeps comming to our door. The vet said he is def not ferral and will not likely survive long as he doesnt have claws. Anyone able to help this kitty?

Ohh no! Did the doc say he was clean and healthy?
Can you post a pic of him. let me talk to my husband and see if we can take him for a bit.

Although Brookhaven is technically a "kill shelter" they have wonderful programs, policies, and procedures to get all of their animals loving, forever homes. Dori Scolfield is the director there and she is amazing. If that is your only option, it's not the worst place in the world. You can always bring the cat there, put a DND (do not destroy) on the cat and advocate for it from your home by continuing to contact rescue groups. Best of luck!

can you try to call different rescues?
We adopted our cat from a tail at a time http://www.atailatatime.org/
Maybe they can help you by either taking in the cat or helping you find another rescue group

They didn't do a full exam. Other than being a little thin from being on the street for at least 3 days, he seems ok...but I know that doesn't mean much. They really wouldnt do much for us but scan him. He is clean though.

OMG. How awful. That is so upsetting to hear. I feel terrible for this beautiful cat.
I sure hope if this is the cat that LJSMommy recently adopted out to someone, that she gets an honest answer from the person who adopted this cat from her. B/c let's face it, if you don't personally know the person who adopts your pet, you never know if what they say is true or not. Omg. My heart is breaking. I so wish my DH wasn't allergic. I love this cat's face, reminds me of my cat growing up.

To the OP< please do this. B/c this cat is NOT going to survive out there and it sounds like the above is the cat's best chance at survival, kwim? This cat def needs help, he clearly is a house pet that somehow wound up on the street and needs help. Please take the cat to the shelter b/c this cat will die a very cruel harsh death on the street since it's clearly a housepet and will not know how or even be able to defend itself. Being at the shelter and risking getting put down would honestly be a better choice than risking it getting cruelly maimed or killed on the street..

Try calling Last Hope Animal Rescue . They are a great organization, it is where we got our cat from.

I wish there was an update on this cat. I have been up on and off all night thinking about him and how he needs help. Esp we are supposed to have a bad rain and snow storm coming. OP...please catch him again. He isn't going to make it out there on his own. I am worried about this poor baby. He is so sweet looking.

It's never too far away. Cats travel along rail road tracks, hitch rides unexpectedly on trucks, people take them and drop them off places for kicks, etc.
Can you get the info?

This happened to me about 3 years ago, You would have to bring the cat to her.. She adopted the cat in 2 days after she paid $1000 in vet bills !! This cat was declawed as well.. Very very sad!!! I think its someone pets who ran out.. You have done so much so far.. I am not sure if you want to contact her and just tell her I recommended you? My name is Diana , Just say Joey G's wife. He hasnt had time to do as much work for her but we love Bobbi and all she does for these animals!!! Good luck.. And God bless you for this , You are wonderful.

I took it upon myself to email a woman on craigslist who has been trying to rehome many cats (who also does not charge the adopter for medical). I dont know her and I dont know how I feel about her $300 fee either but I thought I would throw it out there. Let me know if you want her number. I deleted it in this post.

Can you get in touch with these people that are seeing the nice kitty? I will take this cat for $300.00. We are a not for profit, but we are fostering 55 unwanted adult cats, and this is a donation. I am trying to do what is right, but we need money.
I cannot take any more cats in, but I will do this for a fee of $300.00. My phone is _______. I will give the people a receipt for their taxes if they make this donation.

If they do not waqnt to make this donation to this charity, they should create a little hut for the outdoor cat. He will survive without claws providing they feed him. They must feed him and he was previously owned. He has been declawed by someone, so he was declawed by someone.
They should only contact rescues, not shelters. The cat will be adoptable/
The cat is adoptable on craigslist and elsewhere. He has been declawed so he is a coveted item. He is a friednly cat, so he is adoptable. He may take a few weeks to become adopted. Theyy should continue to post ads for his adoption on the internet and on Newsday.
