Prayers Needed for my Kitty Final UPDATE
My poor little kitty, Buddy.... he's been with me for the past 12 years. He's now 17 years old this month. My sister gave him to me after she saw how much I love him when I was about 13 or so. He's been right by my side for the LONGEST time! Whenever I was feeling down, there would be my Buddy, purring and cuddeling up on my lap. Rubbing his head all around me as if to tell me that all is OK. Now, I need to be doing that to him. He is having a horrible time walking. We took him to the vet, and they said the only thing they can do is prescribe him some hip and joint suppliments...Cosequin they say works best. So as soon as Petco opens tomorrow I will be there to pick this stuff up, and PRAY that it works. He's like my first born, my first love. Please, just pray that he makes it at least a bit longer. I'm not ready to lose him. He's like my last connection to my Father who passed away in 2005. If Buddy wasn't with me, he was with my Dad. It's just been a rough month for us....but I just can't think of losing my Kitty. Thanks!
I'll update with any changes from him.

Thanks ladies. He's cuddeling up next to me now, and I"m bringing him to bed with me. He's my little purrball... I can't imagine life without him.

Cosequin worked wonders for my Hans (Mini Pin) for years. We did eventually need to stack it with a steriod, but it was an amazing change for him.

Well I didn't end up updating b/c I dread writing this.. it's almost as if writing it on here makes it more of a reality.
We called the vet today, and explained how he is. He got dramaitally WORSE since I started this post.
His front paw bones are reaching up and above his spine and actually touching eachother...so when he tries to walk he sorta just slides foward and then just lays down. I got the meds the vet suggested, which is this powder that smells like chicken, to put in their food and water. He bearly ate. Maybe all of 5 bites all day. He will drink some water here and there. Even got him this special senior cat milk from the vet, and he wanted nothing to do with it.
It's almost as if he knows the end is near and is just sorta giving up.  We are also dog sitting DHs parents dog (which really is his first dog) so we are keeping Buddy in my bedroom so he isn't bothered by the crawling baby or dogs. He hasn't moved much at all today. After I am done typing this I will bring him out and have him lay on my chest, for it may be the last time I will be able to do that with him. His whole body is just mush, so when I pick him up it's like picking up a rag doll. He doesnt actually seem to be in pain so to speak but it's almost as if he's depressed for he knows the end is near. The vet even suspects that everything below his neck is numb...thus the falling . He doesn't even budge when I pet the rest of his body. Each time I pet his head or lay on the floor next to him, he rubs his head against mine still and purrs like he always did...
As for the vet...they told us very bluntly that since he doesnt seem to be in sever pain that he may just go on his own while he's sleeping... or we will ultimatly have to put him down within the next 24 hours. I am just so heartbroken, but I know that its thebest for him. I can't let him suffer. So right now we are just playing it by ear... if by some reason he ends up eating and drinking on his own, and getting up more frequntly then we can call the vet again and get a status update. Our vet doesn't want us to take the trip to them for he thinks that the extra stress of the car ride will ... yeah.
So by the time this weekend comes, we will no longer have a kitty.  It is so hard to even write that... but as my DH said, he will be with my Dad soon. I love that Cat more then anything... this is all just soo hard.

So final update... he went on a quick downward spiral over the past 24 hours. He didn't even have enough strength to meow... he was in so much pain. His body was so limp, but he still purred, and cuddeled his head against my face when I laid next to him. I never cried this much ... I just can't seem to admit to myself that it really happened. So we put him down tonight at 7... I made sure to clean his dishes, litterbox, and all that before leaving....I knew I wouldn't be able to do it afterwards. DH cried alot too. He was such an awesome cat. Thank you everyone... I know that he's in a better place now. He gave me a sweet kiss goodbye, and used the last of his strenght to meow as if to tell me it's alright, and he loved me. It was the sweetest thing ever. I know he's with my Dad now...so that's one thing keeping me going.

I am in tears. I am so sorry. It is amazing, no matter what they are experiencing, our pets use the last of what they have to make sure we see their love.
I truly believe that our pets let us know.
