crib mattress - what type did you get?
does it matter? Is there really a difference? I'll check BB but wanted to ask opinions.
ETA: I mean foam, organic, or something else.

so they suggested foam? I just asked them the options - foam was definitely cheaper and I was just trying to figure out if it mattered.

We are going to get the Naturepedic No Compromise Organic Cotton Lightweight Mattress.
It got a good review in Baby Bargains and we wanted a lightweight/foam vs. spring mattress.

Baby Bargains seems to favor foam, and we were going to go with the Colgate Classica, but Behr's said their foam mattress was the same and made by the same manufacturer.

I think I got the colgate foam classica II.
the guy at BBB tried to sell us some spring mattress that would last through toddler and allow adults to sit on the edge of it but it was wicked heavy and rather expensive so we did not get it. i couldn't imagine having to lift it to change sheets.

We don't have our mattress yet, still hoping the in laws are getting it, but we're registered for a Colgate Classica... II, I think. It's $150 at BBB. and my mom doesn't understand why we need such a  one.

We bought a crib that converts to a toddler bed ..so they have mattreses that are firmer on one side for the crib and softer on the other for the toddler bed. I figured since we will use it for a few years we purchased the Serta organic cotten filled infant/toddler mattress and it is on sale this week at Babies r us for 159.99.

Some of our mothers just don't get it. They didn't have as many options as we do now back then.. My mom said she went to the store and had a choice of pink, blue or white crib and the mattress came with it.
