Treats that keep the brown spots away on the grass
Ever since we got our second dog almost 2 years ago the backyard grass has brown spots all over from them peeing. I saw in a pet catalog that there are these treats that you give the dog daily and it will lower the pH in the urine and therefore not turn the grass brown. Anyone use these or know if they are safe or not? Im going to ask the vet but I wanted to hear any feedback about them. TIA!

you DO NOT want to use anything that can alter the pH of your dog's urine...
i don't know what happens in dogs but i do know in humans low pH can mean cause serious health problems

Re: Treats that keep the brown spots away on the grass
Agreed with the PP. I would not want to alter the PH of a dog's urine. Urine that is too alkaline can cause crystals to develop, which can cause urinary blockages, especially in male dogs. As someone whose male cat blocked, I can tell you that treatment costs THOUSANDS of dollars. Failure to treat a urinary blockage results in death - a very painful one at that.
Making your dog's urine too alkaline can also have deleterious effects on your dog's kidneys, including kidney stones -- also painful and expensive to treat. Your best bet is to treat the grass, not the dog.
