chocolate and dogs?

ugh, my 20lb dog ate 4 vials of mini M&Ms Chat Icon my fault, I left them in a bag on the living room floor Chat Icon

of course she is puking her brains out (which is good i guess) but what do we need to look for? its milk chocolate which isnt as bad as dark, right? Chat Icon

Both are bad if she is still vomitting in a couple of hours I would call the vet

she threw up 3 times, large amounts. she is drinking quite a bit of water and seems ok.

no vomit since 6pm ish Chat Icon


ETA i should add that i did speak with my sister who is a vet tech. she said no food tonight, keep giving her water and watch her for labored breathing or acting funny

I hope your dog is feeling better. You might want to consider giving her rice and boiled chicken tomorrow. It will be easier on her stomach then dog food.

I would call an emergency vet for guidance. Dogs and choc, esp that much, is no joke. They can get acute pancreatitis which can be fatal.

Milk chocolate isnt' as bad. My 50lb dog ate a 1lb chocolate bunny and other than some stomach troubles, he was totally fine. Just needed lots of water.
