aids/hiv ques

I have never been formally tested, but I have donated blood on many occasions (I know it is tested and nothing has ever come back), but have not since 2003, I have been with my DH since 1999... now seeing all these topics and knowing that it has now been around for 25 years... Should I call my GYN tomorrow and make an apt... I have already had my yearly visit, will that be a problem? I think I am just stressing myself out because we are talking about TTC soon. And Advice would be appreciated

If it would make you feel better get tested. Since you have been monogamous (Im assuming) and your DH has been too and you have given blood since you two have been together and nothing has been said I would assume you are fine. You don't need to go to your OB, your GP could do it as well

i believe there is a mail in kit you can get at a drug store. Its so easy to get tested now because they can test your cheek cells with just a rub of a cotton swab. Its better to be safe then sorry!!

Thanks Ladies.. i think I just needed to hear other opinions... DH and I have been the only ones for each other since 1999.
I may just call my DR tomorrow for a piece of mind..... THANks

When you do get pregnant they will test you at your first major blood draw apt. or they will wait and test the baby once she/he is born (if you dont get tested)

Thanks... I think I am so nervous about TTC That I am finding other things to stress myself out about....
