When to start seeing an re
I am going back and forth about seeing an re. We have been trying for 6 months with a miscarriage in between. I am going to be 33 and dh is 36. Should I start working with an re next month( cycle 7)???

Re: When to start seeing an re
I think it's really up to you and how you feel. As far as if it's "ok," it's definitely ok, but if you wanted to wait a little while longer that's fine. I finally made my first appt. today after 11 months because I'm fed up with waiting and disappointed in my ob/gyn. I think it's a personal decision.

Re: When to start seeing an re
you can go whenever you would like. we were trying for only about 5 months before we saw our first re. we were both "young", me 26(at the time) and dh 29 (at the time). i just felt like something was not right and wanted some furthur testing. well, my instinct was right, we had a few issues. you to find what works for you and dh.

I was trying for almost a year and I am 32. I just feel like why waste time.

Re: When to start seeing an re
It is definitely your decision about when you feel comfortable going. You may need a referral (check with your insurance company).
I am on the younger side (under 35) so we waited 12 months before seeing an RE for DC#1. Now we are going for #2 and we went straight to the RE.

Re: When to start seeing an re
My OB/GYN says they'll refer to an RE after 12 months for what they feel is a healthy woman under 35. I have endomitriosis so she said I could go sooner. But, I got pregnant after 4 cycles but then m/c. When I started TTC again after m/c, my cycles were 36 - 42 days so after two cycles my OB told me to go to an RE. By the time I got in to the RE, I was at 11 months total.

Re: When to start seeing an re
if you are ovulating on your own and have gotten pregnant on your own (despite m/c) and have no real issues then its really up to you how long you want to try unassisted. i didnt ovulate on my own and as soon as i recongnized and accepted there was an issue i started seeing an RE and never looked back. it was 6 months to the day that i started TTC and i didn't get my sticky BFP until 18months of TTC.
good luck!

Re: When to start seeing an re
I don't think it can hurt. If you are 33 now and if you want more than 1 child, you will be over 35 for the next. Not that being over 35 means you can't have a baby, but it's just "that age" they say things change. This is part of why I went to a RE. I didn't want to waster time. I also have endometriosis and protocol is to begin meds after 3 mo of no bfp after removing the endo.
It's really a personal decision though. Since you had a mc, they may run some tests. If everything is normal, they might just monitor you since you havent been TTC long.

Re: When to start seeing an re
I would say there's no harm in getting started. I really didn't wait any amount of time because I knew I had PCOS. Little did I know, I had a slue of other issues in the mix as well!
