Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH
Maybe when she gets a little older. I trust my parents 100% to watch her- I just feel bad for THEM since she is walking now and a very willful and strong willed and a HANDFUL.
It's a hard age right now for us and I wouldn't want to burden them with that for a full week.
One or 2 nights, yes

Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH
Yep! We're going to Disney in a couple months and leaving my DS at home. Hell be almost 8 months. We'll be gone for a week.
While we'll miss him like crazy, we need the break as well just to recharge our batteries as a couple and as parents.

Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH
DS is 13 months and at this point I would not leave him for a week to go on vacation. If it was a necessary work trip, etc., I would do it, but not to go on vacation with DH.
I feel very guilty asking anyone to watch him for us unless it's something I feel is necessary or there's no way around it. Even though both my mom and my MIL love to watch him for us, the guilt is still there (both that they have t watch him and that we're leaving him).

Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH
I went away for a week when DD#1 was 18 months. I was a single mom at the time and I went on vacation with my girlfriend. I had a great time and I needed the break. When I came home she was a different kid. she was thrown off by routine since I wasn't there. I felt guilty. It took over a week for things to go back to normal but it was a long 2 weeks. I had a great time on vacation but it wasn't worth what I came home to. Now my life it totally different. I'm different and I could never physcially leave me kids for more than 2 days. In about 2 years we plan a weekend trip to Boston- maybe. I just don't think I can. I worry too much.

DH and I are in Vegas right now without the kids so clearly it isn't a problem. They are with my mom who is an extention of me. This is our Christmas present from her.

no bc I'm anal about her schedule and I know that either my parents or his wouldn't adhere to it and it would make my life hell after we get back getting her back into her routine, which would just wipe the nice relaxing vacation away
Exactly this.
ETA: That I would have no problem if it was just my oldest. He is 8 and would do fine for a few days but not with DS2 he is 9.5 months.
If they were both older then def yes.

Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH
DH and I had a night alone when DS was 10 months. Just one night. It was perfect. I trust my IL wholeheartedly so I knew my little guy was safe and having fun.
Good Luck with whatever you decide!

Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH
I went away with DH and left DS home with my parents for 4 days 3 nights. It was a hard decision. But in the end I am glad we went. I trust my parents 100000%. DS had a blast and so did DH and I.
eta - DS was 19 months when we went.

Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH
I wish I could, but I don't think I could do it. My oldest is 3+ and DH & I went away for the first time, for a single night, on our 5th anniversary in October - boys were nearly 3 and 1. I'm a wimp. I'm jealous of those that can.

Do you know I fantasize about going away alone and just sleeping late in the hotel room every day. Then having a leisurely day of peace and quiet. I NEVER used to be one to want to be alone- but now, BOY have I changed....

Nope. I trust my parents 100% but I could never be away from DD that long. I can hardly handle her being away from us overnight.

I couldn't but I might be overly obsessed with being with my DS. I cannot be apart from him at all, we are always together. I probably should take some time away, lol.
I am the same way

Nope.
I just believe once you have kids... they are part of your family & that's it. I bring DS everywhere... really everywhere.
But, it's a personal thing.
See normally I would agree with this but its something *I* have to go away for anyway...I would feel slightly a bit more comfortable if DH was with DD BUT I'd love the time with him and fully trust my mom. I know what you mean....and if it wasn't related to school, DD would be coming too.
ETA: It's school related, but extended out for a few days w/DH makes it partly a vacation

Go! Go! Go! I went & my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. It was a great chance to reconnect with DH after way too long.

Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH
When DS was 6 months, we went to Napa for 5 days. We are going to Iceland for a week when DS will be 17 mos. I think it is important to get away and reconnect!

I don't think for a week! A long weekend, yes, but, not a whole week.
Same here. I would go crazy if I didn't see my little man for a whole week! Maybe when he is older, he is only 19 months now.

Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH
I wouldn't bc I would miss her too much, her schedule would get totally out of whack and it is so good right now, and I feel it would be a huge burden on my parents. The first day or two would be great for them, but they have lives and other responsibilities, and a whole week is alot to ask, IMO.

Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH
my DS is the only grandchild on both sides, so both sets of grandparents are usually begging us to let him stay over! Sooooooooo......we let him And in January DH and I took our first "real" vacation since our honeymoon! We spent 6 days 5 nights in Jamaica and it was AMAZING! We missed DS so much, but it was wonderful to reconnect with DH, sleep in, and lounge pool side for a few days! Now with #2 on the way I don't think we'll be able to do that for awhile, so we really tried to enjoy it as much as possible!

Re: Would you go away for a week w/your DH
with my parents, yes 100%. with Il's, NO.
edited to add that I have left DS when he ws 8 months old & he was fine & didn't even express that he noticed we were gone. It would be MUCH harder for us to do it now at 15 months old.
