Who is this doctor? Where is he located? I think I want to go to him.
Dr. Jeffrey Braverman SIRM in Woodbury
He advertises on this website and is a sponsor of the TTC after M/C board. If you haven't seen him for a consult, I would highly suggest it, it's an eye-opener.
Dr. Braverman
Good luck!

Re: Why we love Jeff
To be honest, I didn't like the idea of seeing someone who was not a RE because I assumed that he would be less knowledgeable. However, Dr. Braverman is not a typical OB. He actually was the youngest person to ever graduate NYU. He was only 14 years old!!! He is a real-life Doogie Howser. His knowledge far surpassed the REs that I saw for my first IVF.

Diana, yes it is absolutely true. Read his bio on the website. He also likes to write and record his own music - it's a fascinating story about the music - I talked about it with him last week b/c Dh is a musician and records as well.

Re: Why we love Jeff
I agree with the previous posts.
I have been to several REs. 2 were able to take an individualized approach, as opposed to the other 4 I saw hwho just wanted to follow the recommended protocols (which don't work for me).
The 1st one got me pg with DD. But he is in NYC and with a 2 year old it is too difficult to make the trek.
I have only met with Dr B 2 times so far but I have a lot of confidence in him and like his approach. He doesn't seem concerned with my age, my FSH or...those damned statistics.

Its true! He graduated NYU at age 17. We had a conversation about it. He said his college friends didn't even know how young he was until gradduation day when they honored him and he had to give a speech. RE or not as many pp said he is so awesome, so knowledgable, he thinks outside the box, he finds things others don't and most of all he cares about all of his patients.

Re: Why we love Jeff
Because when my IVF didn't work this time he called me last night and told him how sorry he was it didn't work. But that I should remember that he doesn't let anyone leave his office without what they came for and we will do what we have to do to achieve the goal.
I told him how I'm going to be asking for meds to be donated to me from my girls on the board..he told me he would help me get whatever I needed.
I really do love him. There is no other doctor out there like him. I'm going to keep trying, but at least I know if it never works, it's not because I didn't go to the doctor who cared the most about me.

Re: Why we love Jeff
Diana - your post made me cry. She is truly beauitful.
I saw Dr. B after seeing two REs that did nothing but cause me further problems and insist that "there was nothing wrong".... I found out after our first meeting that he was not an RE - however, I had more answers after one meeting w/ him than I ever received from any other RE I saw.
As you all know, he is truly one of a kind. I started bleeding w/ my current pregnancy at 7 wks. Rushed to the emergency room only to have Dr. B call me on my cell and tell me to leave the hosp and come to the office (mind you it was 7pm on a Sat night). He opened the office to do a sonogram to make sure everything was alright! I am now 36 wks pregnant thanks to him.
Good luck to all of you!!!

Re: Why we love Jeff
Diana - I COMPLETELY agree w/ you. It's funny, my previous RE told me that there was no such thing as "NK" cells and no 'scientific backing' for those types of issues/tests. Fortunately, given my "desperate situation", I saw Dr. B and he ordered ALL of his "unnecessary" tests. I guess I shouldn't thank him for the fact that I am having a c-section tomorrow.....!!!!
Girls - Dr. B is AMAZING... and you will all have success w/ him. It's not desperation it's called proactivity - you are all strong women who have made a great decision by seeing Dr. B. I wish you all the best!!

Re: Why we love Jeff
Girls, I just felt like bumping this to remind you why we all love Dr. B. Just was thinking about him and all the difficulties he's helped me through and wanted to show the new batch of ladies here to understand what a wonderful doctor he is, and also for the ladies looking for a doctor to help guide you the right way
Best of luck, girls. You are all in my prayers, always

Re: Why we love Jeff
He is truly my miracle worker. I can't ever thank him enough for the gift he gave me on the first shot. After I went through IUI's with other docs and nothing. I had so many issues in the first few weeks and he would always call me several times a day just to see how I was feeling. He is truly amazing!!!

Re: Why we love Jeff
I don't know who remembers but didn't this post spur some crazy spin-off about Dr. B and voo-doo? We had a blast with that one for a while!!
He is an amazing person, let alone doctor. He will listen to anything you want to try, he will not quit on you until you cry uncle and he is truly personally invested in every patient. He may not be for everyone, and not everyone gets their miracle there, but he certainly was the answer to my prayers. And not b/c he "got me pregnant" but b/c he was willing to help me find a doctor to preform a controversial surgery...it was that surgery that got me pregnant!! None of the other "experts" I had been to ever even put it out there a an option. Dr. B. encouraged me to to whatever I felt was right, not what some text book said!!

Re: Why we love Jeff
I live in Staten Island but would definitely make the trek to Long Island if Dr. B accepted my insurance. I have Cigna and when I called the office to ask if they accepted it the nurse said he will only accept it if u have infertility coverage. My insurance covers 0% for IUI's and IVF so she said then I wouldn't be covered for consultations or blood work either...sounded a lil weird to me...can any of u shed light on this?

He sounds like an amazing Dr! I never knew he wasn't an RE! How is he performing IUI/IVF if he's not an RE?
