Another potty training question
So my 22 month old has been consistenly peeing on the potty for several weeks, but on command only. He still pees in his diaper all the time, I dont know if he knows how to "hold it" and he doesnt talk much so he definately doesnt tell us when he has to go.
But if you tell him its time for pee pees he gets his stool and pees standing at the toilet (he has to do everything his big brother does).
So what the heck do you do with that? We stumbled on this pretty much by accident. Would you try potty training fully? Or just use it as practice?

Re: Another potty training question
With only one child potty trained (aka my limited experience) I would say just keep going with it this way. He's doing great and clearly a willing participant in this process. Play it by ear for a bit - maybe start asking every hour and he may get used to the routine of it after a bit - then you can start the underwear.

Re: Another potty training question
Thanks! I think this is what we are going to keep trying. Maybe one day he'll tell us he has to go.

Re: Another potty training question
As a child care professional for over 15 years' I can tell you that children under age 2 are physically unable to control their bladder activity. Their organs are not fully developed yet.
You can continue using the potty when your child shows interest but the general rule is to wait until they ask to go. I've seen so many setbacks due to premature potty training.
It's always easier and more cost effective once children are out of diapers but diapering can also be a rewarding, bonding experience for you and your child. Enjoy it while it lasts!
