Le Play Cafe in Merrick..
Has anyone been to, or heard anything about, Le Play Cafe in Merrick? It was mentioned in Newsday today and looks like a great place to take my 3.5 year old DD...

We love it!
DS is 2 1/2 & can play indefinitely there!!
It's clean, the staff is great (Linda who is in the play area a lot when I have gone is REALLY good with the kids!) and the owners seem really nice!

Liz just told me about this place a couple of weeks ago. Thought it would be a good place to go.

Re: Le Play Cafe in Merrick..
We went (ljsmommy LOL) on Monday. . . and honestly, I wasn't entirely impressed. Maybe it was the amount of kids that were there on a day off but it seemed really small and really crazy - too many kids and adults. However, there aren't many weekend open play places around and if I had to, I probably would take ds. I will say that I agree with Val that the lady was jumping around like crazy :)

Re: Le Play Cafe in Merrick..
It sounds good for 3+ but is it good for 18 months +?
I think some friends would like it - but it looks like you have to go inside if your child is under 3 so you can't sit while they play right?

18+ months will get something out of it, but 2+ is probably the target age., IMO. kids don't have to separate b/c they will let you in the play area too. there are all the basics...kitchen, dress up, puppets, climber/slide, blocks, some push toys/ride ons. the "cafe" part leaves something to be desired, IMO. On another note, I wish they offered their baby class at an earlier time (when DD1 was in school) or had a sibling class!

Re: Le Play Cafe in Merrick..
I had a bad experience there (first bad experience anywhere)...my son who is two and another older girl were fighting over a toy and the lady that is in the play area kicked him out and was rather rude about it. It was very embarrassing. This woman was hounding his every move the whole time he was there and aggravating my son. I think they don't know how to handle kids and will never return.....

Re: Le Play Cafe in Merrick..
the place is fantastic... i have been there numerous times, and it is perfect for crawlers to 4-5 year olds.
they do say if your child is under 2 you should be in there with them, but otherwise you sit back and relax while your kids play.
Linda is great as is Katrina & her husband (mike if i am correct) them two are the owners.
they do close for private parties on the weekends so i would call ahead of time, or FB them, they always announce on FB if they are having a private party and the open play hours
