Receiving services but upset about policy
We start services next week for 1 1/2 months till preschool is over. In July we start a 6 week session and was just told he would get 2 1/2 hours of preschool and 2 hours of see it They provide transportation there but not back. And that's how it's suppose to be in September too. The district will not provide transportation for a see it even if the child's already at the school. My other option is to do all services in home but the school is equipt with all the tools. What are my options? What if I don't drive? I have 3 kids and having to drive 30 every day would screw up the baby's nap my daughter with 1/2 day kindergarden. So frustrated. Finally got services and feel like I'm going to be a bus driver for my kids once again.

Re: Receiving services but upset about policy
I'm alittle confused by your post. Is your DC getting a SEIT during school hours or after? Is it a private preschool or a progam? If it's after then the SEIT will be at home correct? I'm not sure what school district you're in but they have to provide you transportation both ways. I have never heard of them only offering one way unless that is what the parent asked for.

Re: Receiving services but upset about policy
He would receive derives after his preschool summer session since they are equipt for it but will only offer transportTion going because they do not provide transportation for the child to see a seeit or receive Aba. I can choose that they bus him to and from just for the developmental preschool but my house is not set up with the gym items needed for rehabbing.

Re: Receiving services but upset about policy
I would send him to the school and get hm bused both ways. If he is getting OT or needs a gym they will do those services during school time. If he needs ABA have it done at home and the therapist should bring everything with them that they need. You don't need to have any special items in your house for the services. My suggestion is that maybe a full day program might be better for you logisitically. You can always fight for that for the fall session.
Good luck!

Re: Receiving services but upset about policy
Sounds like your using the same school I am. My DS gets a bus to school, but, not home. He stays after his pre-K class for ABA. Im not sure if its the district that doesn't provide or if its the school that doesn't provide. I'm OK with picking him up. My DD recieves EI services in the home M-F in the mornings, so, having the bus in the mornings is a HUGE help! We are done by noon, she then naps, and then we leave to get DS. His hours are changing in the summer though, so, I may look into my inlaws staying with her while she naps, or a mommy's helper...Or simply have her nap a bit later in the afternoon.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the school we are using, so, I try and make it work!

Re: Receiving services but upset about policy
Dawn think it's the same school.
I want what's best for my son but feel overwhelmed with schedules because of camp for my daughter and then in September with her going 1/2 day any son needing to be picked up an hour later I would be eliminating any activities she does such as soccer dance and gymnastics. Plus the baby naps in the middle of the day.

Re: Receiving services but upset about policy
It is hard! Im thinking of enrolling DD in the school as well (in the near future) and I'll be doing plenty of back and forth! With her though, I may choose to keep some services at home. It would be a really long day for her. I just want to send her there for the seperation class. We'll see.
Like I said, not sure if its the school or the district that deals with the transportation.

When I called the school they said it's the district and no way to get around it.
