unemployment question
Can anyone tell me how they determine how much money you will receive on unemployment.
I am a teacher, and am most likely being excessed. I believe I can start collecting in July. The thing is, I am on maternity leave...I started on March 18th, and am not going back this year. Will this have any effect on my unemployment, with me not working these 3 months?
Thanks

Re: unemployment question
They take your highest earnings in a quarter and divide that by 26. It think they go back 18 months. Not really sure but I know its at least a year. You will be totally fine!

Re: unemployment question
They def go back a yr like OP said the agency takes your highest earning mnths and divide by 26. So even if your not getting paid full salary now it will not affect your unemplymt benefits.
The most you can collent in NY is $405 a week. Once you apply for benefits UE will send you a letter showing how they came up with your amnt.
