Re: I hate the process of buying a house
i know the whole home buying process can be very stressful, but just think about how exciting it will be once you are in YOUR very own home!! think back on how excited you were when you first found your house-to-be, and how exciting it will be when you get those keys at the closing table!!!!

Re: I hate the process of buying a house
It's a PIA especially in NY. I bought one in AZ and they don't use attorneys and that was worse! I did all the leg work and the title company was inept.
Makes me think that it's the title companies that really hold up the works. Sorry if anyone works for a title company (I think I remember on here someone that does).

Re: I hate the process of buying a house
We were blessed in that our process was extremely smooth. We bought in GA and my sister was our RE Agent. There aren't attorneys here either, so I became very friendly with the mortgage company and the underwriter and read a lot...it helped tons!!
But yes...it's completely and utterly worth it. Being a homeowner rocks!
ETA: This is a helpful link with tons of articles... A lot of people complain about the closing costs...try to get a copy of the HUD-1 statement prior to closing so that you know exactly what to bring. I did (my sister didn't know about this) and it made my life so much easier!! Good luck!

Re: I hate the process of buying a house
The whole process is a real pain in the arse. We had problem after problem. Just when you think one thing is solved another thing comes up. We had lawyer issues, HUGE mortgage broker issues and the list goes on. I thought it would be an easy process just time consuming and I was half right.
It was a time consuming, stressful process. After the contracts are signed you think everyone does their job and its a cake walk...well maybe for some lucky people but not us. I had to be on top of everyone that was working for us 24/7 in order to get it all processed in a timely manner.
What is comes down to is that its a lot of things that need to get done and a lot of people involved that can screw it up.
Honestly though, its all worth it in the end. I love the fact that we're now homeowners!!

Re: I hate the process of buying a house
I'm right there with you. It's been one issue after another with the seller's att'y (who is also the executor - conflict of interest much?). But, like everyone else said, (I'm trying to keep in mind that) it will all be worth it in the end...whenever that may be
Good luck to you...

Re: I hate the process of buying a house
I'm with ya! We signed contracts to sell our current home and buy a new one back in March. We still haven't closed!!!! Our buyers are very anxious but the sellers won't leave Our mortgage committment expires in 2 weeks and we aren't willing to pay to extend - I pray we close...or we're back to renters until we find another house

I'm in on this one! First the mortgage, then the arguing to fix what needs after the inspection, it goes on and on.

Re: I hate the process of buying a house
I had bought a house in another state and that was so painless. No pushed out closings, no surprises. Attorneys doing their job.
Here in NY... it's another story. But in the end this is so worth it!!!
I love living in our house.

Re: I hate the process of buying a house
It is sooo overwhelming. I posted about this around the time I closed. We closed at the beginning of May and I seriously ate practically nothing leading up to it. My stomach was always in knots and as someone else said, when one thing was resolved, another thing popped up. It felt never-ending! But, after doing some work to it, we are finally moving in soon and now it's time to be excited!!
Good luck! It will all pass.
