It's happening again
I got a call from my doctor and it looks like I'm miscarrying again. I have to go for a sonogram this afternoon because she's concerned that it might be ectopic. My mind is racing, am I ever going to be able to have a normal pregnancy?

I don't think so. My numbers were 295 on 5/2 and she took blood yesterday and they only went up to 304. I asked her if there's any other reason that the numbers wouldn't go up besides a miscarriage and her only answer was an ectopic pregnancy.

Re: It's happening again
Do you see an RE or is this your OB/GYN that is monitoring your blood and doing a sono?
If you have a history of recurrent loss, blood work should be completed every other day to make certain that betas are doubling, progesterone is normal, etc. This can also give your Dr. an idea of what is going wrong.

It's my OB/GYN. After this is said and done I'm going to begin to see a RE. I didn't see the need to see one after my first loss and it was a genetic abnormality. I didn't think the chances of a 2nd m/c were high but I guess I was wrong.

Re: It's happening again
I'm sorry!!!
I would work with a RE and then you can get answers.
I am sorry you are going through this. I have two miscarriages last year, and went on to get pregnant a third time and had a successful pregnancy My DD was born this past Dec.
I went to a RE, they suggested I take Lovenox. It will happen dont lose hope.
I would just go straight to a RE, so you can get some answers.

Thank you, your post was uplifting because I am starting to lose hope. When I had the first miscarriage I felt it was bad luck but with this second one I feel like there's seriously something wrong. If you don't mind me asking, did the doctor's ever figure out why you miscarried the first 2 times? What is Lovenox for?

I never had a d&c, do they never tested to find out if it was chromosonal issues.
I went to a RE and they ran several tests, There is a large recurrent miscarriage panel most RE's will run. They give you a prescription to get it done at a quest diagnostic
They found I had a few things, Annexin, two copies of MTHFR, and Protien S. I really am not to sure what all of these things are, but i just know they are clotting factors. The specialist didnt think these were the cause of the miscarriages ( they thought probaby just bad luck twice) but suggested if I wanted to be more aggressive for my next pregnancy to take a blood thinner ( LOVENOX) just in case this was the cause of my prior 2 miscarriages.
At that point I was to terrified to go through a 3rd miscarriage, and agreed to start the lovenox while TTC and through out my entire pregnancy. I will never know if that was the reason I had a succesful pregnancy, or if it was just bad luck prior. I just knew I wasnt going to take that risk again without trying everything.
Hope that helps. Feel free to FM me with any questions while you are going through this.

so sorry you are going through this. Like Rachael, I also had 2 natural miscarriages followed by a successful pregnancy and just had my DS 5 weeks ago. Testing on the tissue was never done so I never found out why the mcs happened. One was a blighted ovum which is a chromosomal abnormality, the other we never knew what happened. My OBGYN sent me to a MFS (similar to an RE, only difference is the RE helps you to also get pregnant if you have difficulties, the MFS tests for miscarriages and deals with high risk pregnancies...I was getting pregnant quickly just not holding them) -- they tested me and found nothing wrong, just 2 cases of bad luck. My 3rd pregnancy was textbook....everything went well from beginning to end.
Don't lose hope, you will have a baby but in the meantime I would get some testing done for peace of mind. Best of Luck to you. If you have any questions feel free to FM me anytime

Re: It's happening again
I am new to LI familes and this is my first post. I am so sorry you are going through this but I know how you are feeling.
I just found out on Thursday that I am having my 3rd MC. My first one was 3/09 which I passed on my own. After my Dr ran a panel of tests and it showed that I had a clotting disorder. He told me what is happening is my blood is to thick and can not pass through the placenta. He put me on baby asprin and folic acid and told me that should help. After two years of nothing, 5 AIs and an HSG i decided to switch Drs. I met my new Dr this past Oct he looked at my chart and agreed that I should be on the asprin and folic acid. When he asked me if my previous Dr had me on clomid and I told him no he was surprised. He put me on clomid in Oct and I was preggo by Nov. Unfortunately I lost that one at 78 weeks. I had a D&C so they were able to tell me that there was an extra chromosone. My Dr still felt i was in good shape. After waiting for my full cycle I started clomid again and became preggo again. But again, I am miscarrying. This one is only 5 weeks but it still sucks.
He is now going to send me to a specialist to look more closey as to why I cant hold a pregnancy. I have heard talk about the mthfr factor, lovanox and clotting issue. I feel that maybe this is my issue and maybe its not a bad idea for you and I to go get some more tesitng done. I have heard that sometimes the baby asprins just isnt enough and people need something stronger. Whatever it is I just hope there is an easy solution.
I hope I havent rambled on to much but like I said I am new and this is my first post so bear with me . I hope I gave some helpful information and I wish us all LOTSSSS of BABY DUST
